Thread: Non-PA folks, what do you do for resources?

good lord tanks, i thought my personal allottment of 31 total harvesters at any one time was pretty outrageous... (Main (jedi enabled) 6 lots, new alt (shipwright) 10 lots, alt account (merchant) 8 lots, friend account i have access too (BH) 7 lots). I generally don't need to get resources from outside places, but every now and then i may need some power for all them baddies.
Tanks puts me to shame

I am grinding my way up the Shipwright tree, and I'm not in a PA. Currently I'm running 9 harvesters (9 because I've got the soro-sub in the 10th slot) which gets me a decent amount of resources. I've seen other non-pa folks with far more than I have, I was wondering what people do to get their resources?

First, ditch your vetern award.
Second, find friends--lots of them
Honestly, I have alot of friends that bring me resources and drop harvesters for me. In return, my friends receive all ship chassis and components for free.

Oh for lot donations I have done this: I offered a 10% discount on all items they bought from me for each lot which they donated. I got a few people interested, and soon I had to stop taking donations because I had too much! I'd offer a good discount to people, it might help you find some donators.
And for people who didn't want the discount? I love them forever and I will eternally craft for them whatever they'd like!
I also stopped making ace ships. That helped a lot with my resources and stockpiling. /shrug

You can ditch your yacht and get it back later. It's a permanent non-tradable item for you. Stick the deed in your safebox until later.
As to how to get the resources, for a lot of known reasons, most of the Master Shipwrights I know seem to be alts. Could just be the ones I run into though. Pay SOE more, and get access to 20 lots!

I buy the resources and I bought a second account, to make it Master Artisan and then Master Droid Engineer. I user 4 lots of my main account and 9 slots of my second character.
Not much but I can survive

This is exactly the business arrangement I used to run my power business. It works well. *1cpu may seem low to some but that's usually a million credits per cycle and the employee doesn't take any risk and has zero investment. Not too shabby for having to drop and forget till the end of the cycle.

How does lot sharing work? You offer 1cpu per resource you sell to the person sharing the lot? What prevents them from just taking your haul and shorting you?

nothing and it's a risk.. including running off with your harvies if you supplied them or them just quitting, leaving your harvies un-redeedable. But that's kind of built into the 1cpu payoff price.. figuring that the resources would sell at 3cpu on market. I've lost probably 100 harvies over my time in the power biz to this type of negligence. Just a cost of doing business.
Oh, and still good to work with people you know.. like citizens of a city rather than random people. Entertainers are great too.. love the extra cash for doing little to nothing.
But always a risk.

180 moving harvies puts most people to shame. even the 200+ stationary farms which are exploiting whores who deserve to die!
