I just got FS and recruited help to defeat Sith, then was pumped to make it ti the village.

Only to discover I can't trade in Shipwright crafting experience. Thanks, thats really great, it's my main profession, wonderful idea!

My main question, to you developers etc... would have to be....

WHY!!!

The sky is falling!

If you read some of the stickies at the top of the forum, you'll see that this is an ongoing issue. On one hand, the devs have said they want to keep FS/Jeedai out of JTL, and on the other, they haven't given us a reason why you can't convert SW xp.

Arguments both for and against. Very vocal arguments.

I'm guessing Jeedai means Jedi? Anyway I could care less about getting a Jedi character, I just want FS Shipwright, since I love flying and I would like to hook myself and friends up with some great ship parts.

Yes, it does mean Jedi And don't we all?

Topic's been done to death, though. Probably want to not provoke sleeping dragons and maybe trawl through some of the older threads on the issue.

I'm glad we dont get the FS grinders to pick up shipwright for FS xp, there are enough underpriced chassis for sale already without them.

What's really funny is that, on Valcyn at least, the respec thing has pretty much killed the stocks of low-price chassis. All those respec'd master shipwrights didn't make 200 ships during their grind, so there's a huge hole.

I almost never got tells asking for a Y-Wing or whatever, now I get a couple per day.

Do the math sometime. You'll find that grinding chassis to get to Jedi would have to just about be the dumbest thing a person could do. Even if Shipwrights got the same 35 to 1 exchange rate as Archs, you would need something like 660 million resources grinding master level ship chassis (inpractice mode, no less)just to complete the four FS crafting branches. It just isn't feasible, and even the richest player on your server would go broke trying to do it. Not to mention that if you're going for Jedi you really need combat bonuses, not crafting bonuses. Which is why we'll never have to worry about becoming the FS grinding FOTM profession.

There's absolutely no reason why Shipwrights shouldn't be able to trade in their xp for FS crafting xp.

I was always fine with it not being convertable, but after finally giving in and going out there to get the assembly/experimentation bonuses, I was very dismayed to find that really, my only viable option is to pick up one box of architect, park myself in front of Paemos, and grind Gungan head statues for an hour or three a day. Half my skill points are in shipwright and the other half are in smuggler, so I don't quite think it's worth it to grind through personal wind harvesters or whatever when my artisan xp cap is so low. It'd only take me, what.. 300 trips to the village to gain a line of crafting mastery at 4K xp/trip?

I'm guessing shipwright xp may not convert because we have to craft everything by hand (which ironically makes having crafting mastery many times more valuable to us than any other crafting profession), but between our already minimal xp:resource rate and a carefully considered xp:fsxp conversion rate, I'd think it'd be possible to find a way to make this fair to us as crafters without creating an unfairly fast or exploitative way for others to reach jedi.

The warning of chassis grinders saturating the market is a good objection to raise, but this is just how I'm looking at it from the perspective of a shipwright who wants to become a better shipwright through the available force sensitive skills.

I know several jedi that used crafting lines to get to jedi, the exp and assembly bonus help to craft sabers anyway. And they could sell the chassis they make at prices as low as 0.5 cpu wich covers costs to dig it up from the ground yourself with ber 13's so they would never lose money with it, we would on the other hand because no other shipwright would be able to make a profit anymore from selling chassis.

What of those people (like me) who have no interest at all in becoming Jedi? Good point though, grinding chassis to be Jedi is silly, a crafter Jedi, hah, prepare to get owned, lol. I just like making stuff, and where is the harm in woring a little harder to make things better, I am by no means a grinder. I believe in taking the time to have fun and enjoy the game and not get too repetitive, (though for a crafter this is occasionally difficult to accomplish

And as for grinding chassis, you can practiceandgetexperience even though you don't make a part. Sure it may seem like a waste, but if you can afford it, it pays off in the end by making much better stuff right?

Besides what about the other crafting professions? Don't they all have some item that gives a ton of XP to grind that could potentially ruin economy or whatever the excuse is? Wouldn't that exclude all other crafting profeesions as well if thats the excuse? I'm just trying to rationalize this, because I am utterly baffled.

There is nogood reason to exclude Shipwrights based solely on these facts. Give us some love, after all who wouldn't love to see an uber weapon or capacitor or a low mass-high regen shield etc....

One last thing, even if I do manage to get some FS crafting skill with my General Artisan xp, with its tiny xp cap, will those modifiers still affect all crafting professions including Shipwright? Or are we a special EXCLUSION to the benefits of Force-Sensitive crafting branches?

Come on now, people,really!

You dont even know what you're talking about, you can get3 trees in the crafting skills and stil be equil to any other jedi because only3 FS trees will help a jedi in becomign a better fighter and those are melee defense, melee speed and ranged defense.

The other crafting professions require more subcomponents to make the final object wich would make it to complicated to grind on, and because those other professions can make a schematic of everything their stuff will always be better since you would only make a schematic if you get an amazing succes on it.
