I don't care how anyone tries to slice it, but factory support for engines, capacitors, reactors and so on is really needed. Every other artisan elite profession has full factory support but SW. Not to mention that SW now surpasses Weaponsmith as the profession that has the most components. The only item I dont want factory support on are the chassis.. Common now this is crazy.. If I want to build a good combat ship, I need to craft more than 6 other items ontop of the chassis... And, on top of all that, half the galaxy wants components to.
I'll put it to you this way, if you purchase SWG, you can become a masterweaponsmith andmake everything on a factory... But, to become a Shipwright you have to make an additional purchase for a profession that's the most restricted profession in the artisan elites because it does not have neary enough factory support that it should.. Common devs, don't hate me cause I'm Shipwright... I want some love...

Friend - there are half a dozen other posts on this on this page alone. I understand that you are passionate about your desire for a factory, so why not join one of those conversations instead of needlessly cluttering the board?

I was against factory support untill today. I just cant keep up with demand. I understand that the game just came out and everyone is hounding for parts, but I dont see the demand going down anytime soon, if ever really. People are progressing so fast and want updated parts.
I also agree with your comparison of the other artisan elites. They all have factory support, and, like you said, you don't have to pay extra for those professions. What I find kinda funny is that the looted space components are suppose to be better than crafted ones. The problem I'm seeing is that I can loot allot of them. Its almost like crafted components will be the rarity. I want the chassis to stay hand crafted, but everything else can be make on a factory.

I'm noticing this more and more on live. Some were against it at first but soon change their minds. Keep in mind that demand if very high right now and everyone will be looking for parts. Making components by hand all the time isnt efficient. We need full factory support, minus the chassis, plain and simple.

Because of limited factory support, I've had to become a closet Shipwright.. I only make parts for my guildmates, thats it. I think its plain stupid to not let us use a factory to make parts like engines and weapons.

I have to agree. I just spent 2 hours chain crafting. Click click click, click clickity click. I am running multiple crafting tools at once all by hand. In 2 hours I only managed to make enough componentsto fill out6 ships. I have 17 people breathing down my neck for parts. I'm certain I'll have people coming back for replacments before I finish, because I do need sleep you know. By the Emperor, I'm going to have to gomove my harvesters to a new spot soon to, that'l take a good hour at least. I just don't have enough time.
I want to have my shop open to the general public, but it almost feels like I am drowning.

Same here I agree. It would make total sense to have factory support to make ship parts and chassis... Its gonna be nearly impossible to run a vendor when you have to make every freakin part by hand.

Did y'all ever think that this was intentional by the dev's so that a few large shipwrights couldn't control the entire marketplace?
Right now there's a handful of premier weapon and armor suppliers on my server because they all make 1000's of components at a time. They are effectively keeping up with the demand, thus not allowing any room for others to become proficient ws's or as's.

No factory support! Absolutely not!
The lack of factory support is the BEST thing about being a shipwright. It means that you can be run out of business by a larger concern, and it also means that premium pricing on shipwright products is justified rather than just gouging. I like the fact that I have customers waiting instead of having to hope that my products sell. I know I have a market, and I know that I will be able to keep a business running successfully for quite some time.
I like having a stake in what I make. I still handcraft most of my weapons. I get no pleasure from slapping a schematic in a factory, dumping in some resources, and waiting a few days. I do get pleasure from carefully crafting each part and feeling like I am actually doing something worthwhile. It is far more exciting and interesting to me. Like today, even though I still on the grind to master, I made some really great chassis's with some good experimentation. I can't wait until master so I can really customize things. Factories take the joy out of being an artisan.
I think it will really help keep the money grubbers out of shipwright and invigorate the true artisans that really enjoy creating things.

I think it would help , if we dont its close to impossible right now to keep up with the demand. I've sat close to 12hrs crafting pieces upon pieces for people. I like shipwright a ton. I feel bad if I cant make stuff fast enough for waiting people. I have them email me their requests cause im usually in tell hell answering questions like "how do i fly" or " how come this blueprint wont turn into a ship" . I answer everyone and try and help people along. I feel that I should considering I was in beta and have a slight upper hand on it. I want to be able to setup stuff in my vendor like the necessary pieces for people to get off the ground with. Right now I have chassis and thats it, im in eisley standing making pieces ,9x out of 10 the people will come to me that buy my chassis. And it helps to have this so that when were not playing people can buy these pieces off our vendor.

We need factories.
Grinding out 20 countermeasure launchers, 20 mark 1 concussion missle launchers... Sucks
This is such a time drain. Any time I think of crafting components I am get overwhelmed when I just look at the schematic list. Where to start...
