Thread: What do you charge for a yt-1300?

I am asking because I sold one last night. I asked my guildies how much they go for and they said between 700k-900k. Well I sold it for 800k being a newer MSW and wanting to get a customer base BUT I later did the math and that just dont seem like enough. The ore I used was good. This ship had a mass of over 5mil and 3600 hull. In short a damn nice ship compaired to what I have seen others flying. I figure the ore at a MIN is worth 12c each just selling it to someone else. So the way I figure the ship should have been sold for at least 1.5mil or so. Am I cutting myself short or just charging a "fair" price?

Thanks in advance for your input,

Skorteus

Jongashers cut price ships sells them for 485k a shot (they sell like hot cakes as well)

Thinks SOE killed SWG

Is disgusted with SOE's changes to the game
Will have his signature deleted and account banned bacause SOE doesnt like people saying they are useless

Use the worst resources you have for POB ships. The mass range is 4995100 to 5005100. The resource quality simply does not matter. Sure you can get a higher chassis HP so they can blow it up a few more times, but big deal.

I charge a flat 5cpu for all chassis and only make them on request. That would be 750k for a YT. When people say I am charging too much I tell them to check the vendor tab. A guy asked me for an X-wing the other day and I told him 300k. He said he was hoping I could beat the low on the vendor tab of 50k. <1cpu is crazy cheap.

I concentrate on getting good resources for making high quality components. I have no interest in selling chassis for less than what I'd get just selling the resources.

What is a POB ship? The acronyms in this game are killing me. Heck even the devs use them.

I think it stands for Portalized Object or something like that. The YT, Decimator, and Nova are all "POB" ships. When people say POB, those the the ships they usually mean. Any ship you can walk around in is POB, so the Y-8 and Yaught are too.

IIRC, all master level ships use the same number of resources, so I charge the same for all of them: 850K. Anything lower and it's not worth using up 150K resources when I could be using them to make a huge stack of components.

Real /t conversation:
Him: "How much for a YT-1300?"
Me: "850K"
Him: "That's too much for a piece of paper"
Me: "That piece of paper requires 150000 resources"
Him: "Thanks bye"

I currently sell ships at 4cpu, so a yt-1300 works out at 450k. The heavy fighter variants I sell at 350k to account for mining time.

I'm seriously considering marking up to sell them at 5cpu.

I'm sick and tired of shipwrights getting the short end of the crafting stick and it doesn't help when someones selling chassis a <1cpu even if they are crap chassis.

I personnally don't worry too much about resource quality on chassis as I'll always divide my experimentation points between hitpoints and mass and you generally don't need to go over 50% on the mass as it hits the market expectation for mass.

My charge rate is as follows...

SomeNewb tells you, "Can you make me a Meloneeum Falcon?"

You tell SomeNewb, "Hold on a second..."(fires up in game email client)

(A few minutes pass)

SomeNewb tells you, "I can't do that! I have better things to do then scrounge up resources... oh..."

The email I send out is a list of the resources needed to craft a YT-1300 or other POB ship. I tell them to collect the resources and contact me. I will then charge a flat rate of 30k to build the ship. My email explains that I am typically very busy playing the game via hunting on Kashyyk, battling in space or hunting out wicked resources for starship components, I just don't have the time or interest in collecting massive piles of resources just to crank out a few chassis here and there.

So far, I have had 5 people get the resources and 3 people never contact me again. I am clear with them, I run a starship component business, using the best parts, I don't run a starship chassis shop.

Some lunatic put THREE YT-1300 deeds on the Coronet Bazaar up for 20k credits EACH. I managed to grab 2 of them, someone nabbed the others. I'm keeping one, and selling one!

I'd still kill to know who did that. The manufacturer's name on the deed is never online for tells to ask.

I also sell my master level ships for 450k. Yes this is somewhat low, but its not like I had to use the best quality resource to make them either. My reasoning is, you bring them in with a reasonably priced chassis and then they are extremely likely to buy up the components to fill their new ship from thecomponent vendor standing right next to the chassis vendor.

Consider yourself lucky, I was teh third yes the THIRD ship wright in ahazi. I was bringing in more cash than i could handle at that point. Except I got 100-200 tells a day till i stopped playing. I dropped my Ship wright skills just cuase i couldnt handle answering the same questions 100 times, why cant my ship go into hyperspace, how come my ship had no parts to fly it, how come you are charging so much for a ship. I ended up doing the exact same things, wrote and email i sent to people telling them the resource costs, went from 3cpu to 5 to help cover the costs, I ended up stopping on making parts and told people to use looted stuff and ill re for a charge. I was happy I was raking in up to 10mil a week the first then it almost doubled eash week after. The people though just didnt get the fact that it takes a long time to craft an entire ship with parts.I still have 100k stacks of resources from a rich doctor (back then they had all the cash) but im pure combat now. The very very sad thing was I had a few harvestors when i left (for about a year almost) and instead of blowing up they were draining cash out of my bank account for a year straight. Imagine my surprise to find over 300 emails telling me my harvestors and taking money from my account and I only had 75k ish when i logged back on a few weeks ago, positive side was I got all the vet awards for technically being online.

I will give you the same advice that I gave my SW girlfriend:

Make the POB ships out of low quality resources, charge a low price (450-500K) and then make a profit on the POB Elite components they will want to go with it.

Mark V engines, null-bolt blasters (.250 refire and .530 vs armor and shields), Elite armor(2800+ HP), Elite Shields (3400+ HP) and possibly even Elite Capactors (if you can get the energy reserve high enough - 1500 or so) are all very desirable for the POB ships. My YT is outfitted with all of the above. (I provided the resources so it was all zero cost to me...). Each POB ship needs to be looked at as a new opportunity to sell expensive components.

It has long been established that the chassis are not where the money is. They are your chance to get your foot in the door, so to speak. Maybe that should be 'get your hand into their wallet'...

Thought I would share my own ship chassis story of the day. I had a noob ask me how much for a Z95. I told them 20k (4 cpu). They sent me an email order for one. Then after I made it they said they didn't have 20k and want to know if I will trade it for a dewback. I know the guy is new and all but this gets old.
