Thread: Crafted engines and capacitors are useless

How come crafted engines and caps are nowhere near as good as looted ones?


I found an engine with 13k mass and 92 speed (allowing you tojust aboutkeep up with the stupid speed NPC ships fly at). But a master shipwright can only make ones that go about 65 and weigh 3x as much, making themTOTALY useless in stuff like the A-wing because their to slow AND heavy to keep up with tier 4 enemys...


Its the same with capacitors.



Shipwrights need to be able to make stuff as good if not better than looted ones.

i noticed it on the beta..no matter wth i did i couldnt squeez out any good results no matter what configuration of points i did..or what type of componet i put into the capacitor or reactor...even with a droid with shipwright capability..and getting a few amazing successes...it seems there needs to be shipwright specific foods or CA's or AA's

Aye, looted stuff should be good enough to get by, *sometimes*, at lower levels, but if you want to do even mediocre, you should seek out a shipwright. This is pathetic that people are only going to shipwrights for chassis.

I dont think that would be enough, they just need to make experimentation on some components make much more of a difference so that can match looted ones.

No they don't. It's the reason that they implemented RE. They don't want SW to become a factory run ignore the public profession, so they gave SW's the RE. Now, SW's will spend time interacting with their customers to provide a service (re-engineering).

yes - but exspecially on engines and capacitors the gap is WAY to high.


keep in mind that tier5 NPCs fly between 700 and 900.


so how are you supposed to compete with that using a crafted engine (650-700 max speed)?


maybe SWs dont need to make better ones but at least comparable ones.

i tend to find my crafted items can be brought up to close that of looted items, but are heavier true, but have much better armour and hitpoints.


Basically, my ship is slower, but able to take more punishment.


Also, the different resource quality give different bonuses. OQ for example lends itself to good armour and hitpoints, but some of the other qualities needed may affect speed/acceleration, still experimenting to find this out.

Well Im a force sensitive crafter and Ive made an engine with all amazing success and it still sucks compared to what Ive looted. Yes I see what they did with re but as far as Im concerned its a wierd slice and smugglers only need to use one tree to slice we need all 4. As far as Im concerened JTL crafting sucks. But we all have our oppinions and btw I love pilot so I take the good with the bad.

weird slice?


after reading the threads on RE'ing, it's the UBER slice!

take a bunch of components, RE them, and you get a 'perfect' component with no drawbacks.

i think that's the cats ass.

As a pilot and not a shipwright, i'm glad that some lewt is better than shipwright-crafted items, 'cause damn. i don't care what anyone says, JTL stuff is EXPENSIVE. tier 4blueprint and components will easily cost a million credits to a pilot off the street.

I think one idea would be to make loot parts decay faster.

Looking at the bazaar and even in own loot stash, there is just way too much of it for us to compete with it, even IF we can make stuff as good.

Why don't ppl understand this? If you're a shipwright, go buy that uber loot and make it better via RE.


I can't possibly understand the complaints. You get to build chassis, build components, supply consumable ammo and repair packs, and provide a value added service that will make any looted item better than it started. You have every single base covered.


Some ppl will b*tch if you hang em with a new rope.

yes - JTL stuff is in fact expensive.


but seriously - how much stuff have you bought (exept chassis)?


i bought 2 heavy blasters, an advanced blaster and a L7 shield gen from a crafter.

the rest is 100% loot.


so in my whole JTL carrer (4343 atm) i spend 700k on ships (z95, longprobe, x and a-wing)

and roughly 200-250k on components, chips, paintkits, flight computer etc.

hmm i can make a lvl. 7 engine whit 78.0 in max speed the only problem is the mass 12332.2so you can make fast motor's

hmmneed to test how fast i can get a lvl. 9 engine
