Now that we have this nice boost in stats, I'm actually making some now. I have to say I've pretty much ignored capacitors since JTL launched because they were so flat-out bad.

What upgrades are people finding get the best finished product? I think I've been switching back and forth between Quick-Charge and Heavy batteries, but neither seems to be the go-to yet.

I stick to heavy batteries. sure the super high regen of quick-charge is nice, but I would like to think that most people are running weap. cap. overcharge anyway, and that not only increases your recharge, but gives you a whopping cap energy pool to move to your shields -- which is what i consider more important anyway.

though, it may be worth looking into how much you can regen in say, 15 seconds -- because sometimes you find yourself in that situation where your smashing cap to shield as fast as you can

Speaking as a pilot not a shipwright I always go for recharge rate on capacitors. Point being the pool is largely useless if you can get a recharge rate that never drains. And even then with the capacitors I use I can recharge while firing and still hit cap to shield shunt 3 as often as it recycles and have my gunners shooting the entire time.

In a fighter I use the same method. It seems that high 40s to low 50s in recharge is good enough for anything except the Krayt gunship. 4 guns drianing can really suck it down. Even with cap overcharge.

I'm making Mark 5's with 60+ recharge on Chimaera. Think the current best was around 63 with 990 energy.

Depends on what my guns eat per shot. I try to look for a bit more than half of what all my guns consume together.

So my adv. X-Wing got two lvl 9 quick shots with ~30/per shot and my cap has ~36 recharge. I never stopped the time but it would take me ages to empty it with running programs.

The battery is indeed interesting for recharging the shields. I try to look for over 1000 base.

Those are looted ones though.

Now I am interested. How heavy would a cap be that is better than mine?

i use heavy batteries, then throw ALL my experimentation into recharge - have been getting pretty good results that way (at least on the level 5)

even level 3 ones come out around 900 capacity and 37.5 recharge.. works pretty good on an Awing at 2500 mass.

Well, usually do quick recharge batteries, as it seems that is what work best for myself . But I think I'll have a go with heavy battery just for a change.

I too have noticed that when a heavy battery is used and points thrown into recharge, it make a much nicer cap than a quick recharge part with points thrown toward cap energy.

I don't have any numbers yet, but I've been getting that impression, too.

No. We're talking about the second stat boost that Capacitors got in the last ten days or so. Asteroid Resources are still bork.
