It's true, there's a big disconnect with how this game is played. Devs and other people talk about FAIRNESS in managing wee stupid exploits to help get thru game design gates, but the real problem with this game is that I pitty the fool who:
- has only one toon
- plays the game as intended (poorly designed "intended")
- does not do lot swaps
- does not belong to a supportive guild structure
They're basically out of the market compared to those who have:
- Multiple toons/alts
- Uses lot swaps
- Has strong guild support network - peeps helping to harvest and other support needs so that the toon can focus on crafting
If you're not hooking up with a strong crafting guild, that's more than half the battle, and I don't know why a crafter wouldn't, but even then, the game is bias'd to those paying SOE for multiple accounts, the jedi toons who as non-crafters afford the player 2 toons per account, or 20 lots, and those who take advantage of lot swap tactics. Its not FAIR to the solo, one-toon, crafter by design.

I have been gathering resources for a long time in preperation for JTL. I am only making missles which wont use as much as resources as a chassis. I have 40 lots of BER13 harvestors, I always make a profit. So if you want to get into ring, start doing lot trades etc. Its the only way to survive the business.

I'm probably run one of the largest Shipyards on Tempest, and my prices are not the cheapest but I sell a lot of stuff, why? because it is always in stock, and is made with the best materials possible, I craft everything with the best materials, even missiles.
Every Vendor is restocked twice per week with 25 (50 for armor) of every part and 6 of each chassis. I have backpacks on each vendor that hold another 50 of each item so I can do a restock as needed. I strive for Quality and achieve it, and also maintain a full stock of items. I do custom orders when time permits and have also Mastered 3 pilot professions (almost done with number 4). I mine what I can and buy what I can;t mine, my prices reflect the value I place on my time and effort, as everyones time and effort is valued differently prices will always be different.
