What I *REALLY* wish they'd do is make one of the front two seats the pilot's chair and make the "captain's seat" in the middle of the bridge a second co-pilot chair. This makes flying the ship easier and also allows someone to take on the role as a captain yet still be able to see the exterior of the ship and have a function.
This is a "role play" game afterall, and there are many people that would like to role play a Captain of their mining vessel.
I agree with this. The pilot position in the Y-8 is really awful. I would much rather sit in the left operations chair to pilot the ship. I could then see where I am going.
"by "co-pilot" im asssuming u mean ops, which, in all MP ships, doesnt actually do anything besides sit there; and as for captian, i think verbal commands arent fast enough for the gunner's to be totally effective, let alone trying to command a pilot"
I regularly play a "Captain" and sit in the co-pilot seat in my VT-49 and bark orders to the guns and pilot. A captain doesnt tell people every single detail, he directs the flow of the combat. If its time to ignore a fighter and aim for a ship, its the Captain that decides that and its actually quite fun to do if you arnt in the mood for flying or shooting.
"i like the pilot seat where it is, makes the ship even more unique then all its other features (especially the new ones) although having some kind of control console in front of the pilot chair wouldnt be a bad idea, but dont let that slow the quest and turret updates in pub 24"
Its a Captain's chair based from the designs of older "Y" series mining vessels introduced in the EU, therefore they would not add consoles to it simply because it shouldn't have any relation to flying the craft.
If the pilot seat was put to the front and the Captain's seat BECAME a captain's seat it would still give the vessel its uniquness. And may I remind people that the Y-8 was not designed to be a 3-man-crew like other current POB vessels ... its supposed to be a large-crewed vessel with a crew that would mimick vessels like a corellian corvette. I.E. a captain, helm, ops, engineering etc etc.
Glad to hear it DP! Question in regards to those of us quick enough and brave enough to currently have and use the Y8... Will the current Y8's transmorgify themselves into the new ships or will we have to get another one to fly? If answer is another one, hopefully all quest information is reset so that we can do it again ![]()

The turret change will affect all existing and new Y-8 ships---you will
see that two new weapon slots are available to you in the component
management screen. The bottom elevator button that currently
takes you to the lower back turret now has two new options to take you
to Front Turret 1 and 2. No new questing required.

I read you managed to fix the issue with this quest. Can we expect a fix for the Vaksai/Heavy X/TIE quest as well? Submitted a bug for this myself as have countless others. What happened is I switched pilot factiosn to neutral before finishing the missions given by the CPG at the Kashyyyk station. I had to start these missions over from the beginning when I finally Aced. Well, The lady at the station sends me to see Elyma or whatever the Nautolan's name is, who then sends me back up to see the station for missions again. She then sends me back down and the loop has begun.
QFE! QFE! I have the same problem, except the reason i switched was because i got bugged with the strong/weak bug and couldnt handle the long wait till the fix went in, so i thought id switch squadrons in the meantime....when i found out i rebugged myself, i wanted to cry.

Any thoughts of using Y-8 solo easier?
Turrets or just mining stuff?
Player A finds a bug profession related.
Player A posts the specifics in the profession forum and makes sure the correspondant I notices it.
Correspondant I raises the issue to the devs attention again and again.
Dev D gets the time to look at the issue and goes back to the original post to see the specifics on the issue, even if the post has long been gone from the first page and does not have hundreds of infurated replies.
BTW, since you're still reading this post, there is another crafting bug that needs to be fixed, related to asteroid resources too.
Some resources have a stat cap that is taken into account when crafting. Steel have a CD cap of 650, so any steel close or over to 650 will get near-perfect results.
Problem is that asteroid resources with OQ 500 have a cap of 1000 OQ. Since the OQ is a fixed stat, either the OQ cap should be lowered to 500 for these resources or the OQ of all asteroid resources be raised to 1000.
You can check this for yourself crafting a Mark III mining laser. It uses 250 units of 4 asteroid resources, 2 of which have OQ=1000 and the other 2 have OQ=500.
When experimenting in Refire Rate (50% OQ + 50% PE) the max experimentation % is 37%. We already know that the lack of PE is producing a low quality cannon, but if the stat caps for asteroid resources where as they should, we should be able to experiment up to 50%.
The WRV (Weighted Resource Value) is calculated as follows:
WRVoq = (250 * 1000 + 250 * 1000 + 250 * 500 + 250 * 500) / 1000 = 750
WRVpe = 0 (none of the resources has PE)
WRV = WRVoq * 50% + WRVpe * 50% = 375 => 37% max experimentation
Hope you have the time to look at this too.

QFE! QFE! QFE! Same issue with me, quit halfway through to pick another pilot branch! DP your the best, I hope you can help out us poor souls that would love to fly a Vaksai!!
Praise the maker.

Erm, the Y-8 is supposed to be a multiplayer ship...imho you really shouldn't be able to fly it solo and have it be easy to fly...
