I presume this does not apply in deep space?
You could always use the emergency repair options to get moving, then leave th esystem

Correct it does not currently apply in deep space with the freebee cludge. While I disagree with 0 risk, normal space decay currently makes my chosen ship loadout (heavily armed and armored tank) an invalid style, as 7 deaths effectively turns armored into tinfoiled

Better the armor than the components though

I'd like to add another reason why the current decay system sucks...
Decay griefing.
Somebody can go around and intentionally target engines or reactors, only disabling thier opponent, forcing them to eject, and take aguaranteed 10% hit each time. Even if you have a good engine, with lots of armor, and at first can take even a targeted hit, eventually the reactor or engine will be unable to use the droid programs on it, which is end of life on those components. Now I know overload programs are supposed to do this, and I have no problem with it, except that others can artifically hasten this process. Maybe we should chose our fights better rather than rushing headlong into overwhelming odds, but lets face it, space needs MORE PvP and overall action not less.

Just because you're above such low tactics doesn't mean there aren't groups of thugs out there that would get thier jollies out of such a thing. Watch, it's the same group of thugs who's gonna 1 star me.
Oh and if you target thier engine/reactor, the damage will stop there, I've been one shot disabled, but not killed, bya space bomb before (hey, I wasn't paying attention, it was the first time I had seen a rebel in deep space, and I had been going there daily for like 2 weeks) and they do 10k damage minimum.

If I kill you, whether I targeted your engines or not before hand is irrelevant. It will take the same amount of damage. Once its disabled (which, yes, will be faster every time you die) then I can't really target your engines any more can I?
