Have you looked closely at the numbers? For the ship chassis, quality does matter, but just barely. There is only like a 1% - 5% variation between the stats of a ship that got critical failures and set all experimentation values to zero and a ship made by a master with all the best resources and amazing successes on experimentation. With that small of a difference, I just don't see the point in burning the expensive resources on chassis. Some customers will pay it, but most will not. I know I wouldn't. Better to use them on components, where the benefits of experimentation are much greater.

This has been my experience to, I used 80% to 95%(Green) resources on an X-Wing then crafted the same chassis with mostly 50% (Yellow Resources) expermented only on mass.
The difference in mass was about 1%, seems we are better off saving the good resources for components and just selling Chassis as a commodity at low prices.
You missed the big point here.. I'm not looking for a big bank account, I just like to tinker and build, that's why I'm doing this. Credtis ain't buying my kids Christmas presents bud. I don't care how you make your money, if you have a lot, then buy lots of my chassis and components, I won't complain. If you don't have much, I'll hook you up. I know how to make money and keep myself going, but I'm not going to squeeze the lemon just b/c you're scared you can't overprice everything you sell b/c I'm selling for half of your price. Just remember, I'm having as much fun experimenting on my components as you do trying to be the richest guy around, or whatever you are whining about. You can worry about all the other shipwrights, I'll worry about taking what I like about the game and doing that.

I'm not in shipwright for the credits, tinkering with cars or ships, I like the "tuning" aspect of shipwright and will not be looking to be the most distiguished or richest shipwright in the galaxy, just having fun and selling HQ stuff that everyone can afford. I didn't collect resources for months to be rich... I could be rich if I just kept all thecredits and time I spent collection those resources : )
Oh, really?
Well, I'm a noob player, and I can afford a whopping 250 credits, because that's what they gave me. Please give me the WP for your vendor where I can buy a ship (and you should probably throw in an engine, while you're at it) for my 250 credits.
Sound ridiculous to you to? Well, that's what I thought when I saw it. Try this on for size, why don't you?
I'm a player who's managed to master an elite combat profession. I can spend 12k to buff out all my stats for a money session. In that time frame with a solo group, I can make $300k to $900k (depending on my profession). And I'm going to complain that you're ripping me off because you want to charge me $150k for a Tier 2 ship. It comes to 90 minutes of my time to EARN the thing, or even 30 minutes if I'm an uber combatant... and you're the one ripping me off.
Geez, Louise, folks. They're paying 1 million credits for a freakin' tube of glue!!! They can afford 6 figures for a STARSHIP!!!

I'm seeing a definate division here between people that actually care abot the long term viability of the profession and those that don't. Sure its nice to be able to help out the SWG community and get people into ships for as little as possible but its a bad move. Once the first wave of undercutters gets a foothold the profession is headed straight towards where architect currently resides. The only way to protect the profession is to adopt a somewhat uniform pricing policy that allows for long term profitability and not dropping below a certain price range. Many are only here to make a quick buck and be gone which is why you get so many people spouting off about a high volume low margin biz model. A walmart type business model like that only works for a month or two until you suffer from burnout, not that you'd care because you've made your money, snuck out like a thief in the night and royally screwed the profession for all those the genuinely care. If you really care about the SWG community a whole or at least your fellow shipwrights stop thinking about yourselves for a moment and think about your profession or it won't be a question of will it turn into architect part two it will be a question of when will it turn into architect part two.
