"I'm not too sure about this, My Oppressor has medium equipment in it, around 2K for both shields and armor, and it regularly takes 2-3 hits in PvP, sure there are some out there that get me in 1, but most of the time I can survive at least one hit. So figure a Deci with 8K armor and 10K shields, that should be good for at least 5-6 hits easy, add in the fact that it is returning 5K unmodified damage, and other pilots are gonna be pretty weary of them. In a large scale (and organized)attack, they will go down pretty fast, but that is how it should be, and when is the last time you saw anything organized in space PvP? Add in things like Cap to shield shunt, and you are gonna have a pretty formitable tank. An easy fix is just give the POB guns an extra 2-300m range =)"


In PVP with a fighter, it is very rare for an attacking player to score a direct hit with ALL of their weapons. Against a POB ship they will score a direct hit with all of their weapons a good 90% of the time due to the size of the hit box and even with the engine increases, the slugishness of the vessel.


If we then assume 1 X-Wing is fighting against 1 VT-49, a Heavy X-Wing can hold 3 advanced blasters each doing an average of around 3k damage. Thats a total average of 9k overaldamage with one direct hit. Therefore one direct hit of said X-Wing on said VT-49 carrying 10k shields would result in the shields being more-less taken out in one hit. A shield shunt with a 1.5k capactior will knock the shields back up to around 2-3k however, the second shot from the X-Wing will take out 3k of the shields and 3k of the armour. The VT-49 then wont be able to re-use shield shunt for atleast 10 seconds giving the X-Wing more than enough time to fire off one more volley which will easily remove the remaining armour and destroy the chasis. So thats a total of 3 hits resulting in a kill and thats only a 1vs1. Now, considering the manoueverability of even an X-Wing compared to the combersome targeting and limited range of a POB's turret it doesn't take an amasingly skilled X-Wing pilot to avoid being shot at all.


So ya see? The POB with 10k shields is equaly as useless as a POB with 1k shields in PVP.


And as for large scale PVP rarely happening? Almost every saturday on Starsider we hold a GCW space PVP event. The majority of SWG's most avid pilots are involved in this including Tomo Rainer, the pilot correspondant. Generaly talking numbers of atleast 12 each side and evenJSF's last no longer than a couple minutes half the time. A POB would be taken out within the first shots of the encounter.

To say "I wish the developers would use their brains " after these planned changes isharsh... These Pub 24 changes, while not perfect look to me to be a FANTASTIC start... Finally, POB ships will have more function in the game. I'm a little disheartened by the Y8 mining ability being no greater than 5 fighters, but what a start this is!



It also sounds like what you're suggesting is a reduction to the damage dealtin PVP (mainly for POB ships). As I understand it, a system is in place for PvP ground combat where the combat is reducedto 0.7 of the original damage. If this is not currently implemented for space combat, then it would be a logical progression to add this... To kill your targetin less than 10 shots is rediculous and if its a one shot kill then thats even worse?! If a damage reduction is made for PvP combat then this would create more of a 'Space Combat' feel rather than a 'i fired first' feel?!

If it took 10 shots, with cap to shield shunt, many of us would not be able to kill each other. Period. I have had battles last >5 minutes. Yes, 5 minutes. Once in a tournament, I declared the other guy the winner because he hit me once. I did a CTSS immediately and was back to mostly full shields. If he did not hit me, it would have been a draw, it was going on so long.

We had a PvP event on sunday, and 2 crewed Novas showed up. They took quite a beating many times, a few times they died quick but that was because we (the imperials) sent heavy ships to take them out (Firesprays and Oppressors). This was on Live. With these changes, I'll have second thoughts about assaulting a player POB. Not saying I wouldn't do it, but they are going to be a different beast out there.

I don't suppose there was any thought put into making the RED % boost fix Retroactive(as glad as I am there IS a fix coming)?


I figure if they could possibly do it, it'd have to be part of the publish with this fix, or never at all.

Ooooo... if you get behind and below a gunship with the Y-8, the new null bolts should toast it nicely. Three turrets, no waiting.

What do you think the best loadout will be on the Y8? I'm thinking maybe going all out with 5 mining lasers. Seems like it'd be a bit difficult to suck in small rocks with a tractor beam while the ship is moving.

Think about this....we may actually see some epic POB fleet battles. This is too much. It's too good. Christmas comes early for the SW/pilot community :-)


Now just give me a space station I can dock with and some areas for merchants to set up and I'll never touch solid ground again :-)

I am thinking the person in the tail gunner spot isn't going to be seeing many roids unless you fly into them like a klutz.


My GF and I are going to try mining with the Y-8, but I am not getting my hopes up. Mining in a fighter sucks because you have to land all the time to unload. Mining in the Y-8 is still reported to be slow. I am really not sure how we will mine post pub 24.


I would not mine at all, except that I get all my POB ship parts for free if I get her the minerals required to make them. I am throwing in a free Krayt Elite Carbine as part of the deal. hehe.
