They only have 2 guns - the Y-8 has 5

You can make it shorter by copying your live folder files to the TC directory (all the ones over 1mb and then run a full scan)
POB ships have felt so useless for major attacks up until now, because everyone's opinion is five ships all gunning is better than five people stuck on a ship that dies just as easily and puts out less damage.
Now?? Can you imagine the possibilities!? Someone needs help on their Corvette run? No problem! Bring your YT-1300 along and do the strafing runs that cripple the sucker!!
Finally this adds a whole new dynamic to this game, where you'll actually have these big lugs running around with their own fighter screens. I cannot wait!!!

LOL You have a point. Honestly, it really depends on who you're in the ship with and what you're fighting...with this new equipment, one thing I definitely plan to do is make the strafing runs on the Corvette to take out it's offensive capabilities. You've got to agree it's more than perfect for that.
PvP...I'll be interested to see how it does. It'll definitely take more hits and kill just about anyone in one shot...but it is a "broad side of a barn" so unless you're gunners are staying frosty you'll be hard-hit to live.
9k shields for PVE is a nice change but for those of us hoping our POB's would finaly be a viable PVP craft to add some kind of "capital ship" into our space combat... 9k shields means instead of dieing in 1 shot we die in 2. I have to say, ultimately I'm very dissapointed but then the system itself is heavily flawed ... POB's really need to have around 50-100k shields to make them viable in PVP but that would make them unkillable in PVE.
Instead of just constantly messing with stats like this I wish the developers would use their brains (assuming they have any) and develop a component that can change the amount of damage done in PVP-ONLY combat.
For instance:
Shield Generator Wave Amplifier
The Shield Generator Wave Amplifier (SGWA) is a device that plugs into the Shield Generator of your vessel and amplifies the wave output of the deflector screens generated around your ship modifing its ability to deflect at an increased rate. Due to the bulky size of a SGWA device, it can only be installed on ships of freighter or larger classes (POB vessels only). The SGWA has two stats which can both be increased through experimentation by a Shipwright. The two stats are:
Energy Weapon Reduction:-
Reduces the total amount of damage of all non-missile weapons. The resultant value will then be absorbed by the shields, armour or component hitpoints.
Projectile Weapon Reduction:-
Reduces the total amount of damamge of all missiles. The resultant value will then be absorbed by the shields, armour or component hitpoints.
This little toy can effectively make a POB viable in combat. A POB vessel with a 60% SGWA could withstand a LOT of shots even if it only had a more traditional 2k shield and if NPC weapons have the ability to nullify or reduce the affects of an SGWA it basicaly allows for a balanced tough PVE and PVP ship.
Now if only a developer had the sense to implement THIS instead of spending a year messing with other stats in a pointless juggle of balance that will ne be reached with the current system.

I need about 7-8min for 1.5K in live which seems about right. Im my very own personal opinion, 4 min seems to be too fast.
