Thread: Shipwright Profession Issues August 2005
Any way I think teh augumentation for tools is a great Idea. I think it should be brought up in the Artisian Forum mroe then here since it would affect all crafters.
As it is today, those that efficient in crafting and manages to hold a big stock. Gets the biggest customer base.
Add limited factories, and they will be running all night long from macros. It's not hard to set up. And it will create a even bigger gap.
Full factory support, it's the only way to level it out.
well a SW mission terminal is among my top list of wants it would be like the artisan mission terminals
you get survey missions or crafting missions that will add to your SW exp
Now I'd be fine with that if I really got the feeling that it was supported by the majority but from my experience and from reading the boards, that is not the case.
I don't want to find out that the devs thought most of us wanted any more factory support than we have and change it based on that. Not very fair IMO.

I like how some things were listed both in things that SW's like and like not. My problem, and this harkens to an often argued topic, is that it's made to sound as if we as a community want to have more factory support more than that we don't. You even go so far as to offer a suggestion for more limited support for finished products.

Things I'd like to see added to the profession (and I'm pretty sure they've been mentioned in this thread or others, so I'm probably just repeating them, but I'll do it anyways! ![]()
1.) Customization Interface for colors and textures and such along the lines of the Image Designer window. This would allow for a greater degree of interaction between the SW and the customer. It would also allow for fine tuning of the overall look and feel of the finished product for the customer.
2.) Hangers. I've seen some great suggestions posted so far, and all have their merrits. One that I'm not sure has been mentioned, or maybe my idea is just a variant of one I've read here, but what about an instanced hanger at the current starports? Make it so the SW (or even pilots as well) have to rent the hanger - pay a daily maintence fee for the space. I think it would allow for a greater level of immersion - I mean, how many of us have wanted to dock our ship in Docking Bay 94 in Mos Eisley? heh I wouldn't allow storage of stuff here (or very little...maybe a storage locker of like 15 or 25 items or so, to hold missle packs or such OR give the option to rent (at a signifigant cost) maybe a 50 or 100 item container). Also, I wouldn't count it against a player's lot count, especially if no items can be stored here. Sw's could have a special interface in their hanger that allows for customization of colors and component design. By making them instanced areas, it wouldn't take up any valuable space in the regular world and gives the opportunity to allow for the idea that someone else posted about being able to actually SEE your ship in the hanger - as other people mentioned, doing this in the normal world would call for a pretty large building to accomidate the ship and keep the scale in proportion. This could work with idea 1 as the customer could see what it would look like in the ID display, and then after accepting, see the changes applied to their ship - maybe even implement a short timer (like the carfting timer) before the changes take effect...to simulate the time needed to apply the changes to the ship?
I am a shipwright and a pilot.
I am vehemently opposed to any change in the mechanic of deep space and furthermore I would encourage a decay/damage-less PVP system outside of deep space as well. I care ZERO about other shipwrights profits and my own in this matter, decay is not fun and other mechanics can be devised to keep shipwrights in the green and keep pilots happy without the absurdity of decay.
decay is not fun.this is a game. not a job. furthermore JTL is an arcade twitch experience separate from the ground. it's quite simply absurd that i can spend months and months looting to make a fantastic RE'd component to fit on my ship only to have it decay to 10/10 and have it be completely unsuable for overload 4 commands.
this does not happen on the ground currently, fantastic looted items can be ADK'd at a cost to the player. why no option to include that in the summary above? more concerns about SW profit?
what's next? a protestation that 10/10 decay be removed so the shipwrights can get more business? i don't see this being far off at all. should we expect further nerfing of looted components as well?
every single option above in regards to deep space is rife with problems. what happens when someone is disabled in PVP but destroyed by an NPC? happened 4 times to me yesterday. what happens to pilots who want to run their droid commands prior to entering DS so they are at 100% for the fight? are we expected to load into a fight without overload commands?
Iappreiciate many players just come to DS to repair. I don't like seeing that either, but find another mechanic that doesn't punish players so shipwrights can get more money. How about increasing the viability of missles in PVE? How about eliminating decayless repair on armor alone? Fantastically expensive crafted ADKs for ship parts? I know for a fact this community has the courtesy to think up a variety of solutions that don't involve forcing players who meticulously craft components to fill every single unit of mass on their ship to get screwed.
Not sure if this is an issue, a question or maybe I just don't get it![]()
Whyis the mass on everything we can craft so huge?? Are Mark V components only meant for Multi-Player ships?? Why is there no Single Player Ship in the Master Pilot Box?? (know this may not belong here...hehe) The only components in my X-Wing that I crafted are the reactor and the missile launcher... everything else is looted because of mass issues. Why shouldn't I be able to put the best components in my ship when I've reached the level to use them? Or would this be game-breaking? I'm trying to take away all the challenge aren't I? ![]()
