Yes I agree some stuff and some crafters can make better stuff than looted but its VERY RARE. However this is not a place to say i make better by all means, b/c like I said some can. Yet the vast majority of the profession can not due to lack of resources or looted stuff is so much better. However I challenge ANY SHIPWRIGHT to try and make a Mark II engine with very little mass like 5k and speed of 92, guess what it CANNOT BE DONE!! YET IT CAN BE LOOTED NOT EVEN RE'D....

With that being said we will get back to what this thread is suppose to be looted stuff vs crafted stuff!!

Hmm i like to see you make a reactor whit more then 20k power or a engine whit more then 90+ speed or any off the othe ting

I think the reactor at 20k is possible as I made a Mark III (lvl 5 cert)today at 14.1k energy. I used 900ish resources on everything except the special resource that goes in the subcomponent, which was complete andutter crap(low red on the resource meter)but only spawn of it ever. I don't remember what the other stats on the reactor were as i sold it as soon as i made it. Was quite happy with it tho.

Yeah shipwrights are really just for making chassis and analyzing the loot.

LOL, well good luck finding one in the future if the prof continues the way it is. I know I will not spend my valuable timejust analyzing someone elses loot. If you really think that is all the prof is for, then, then I guess there is no hope for it and the shipwrights might as well just pack up and move on to another prof, because we are just wasting our time.

On Corbantis, I charge 1k per level on the RE build if the customer brings me the parts. Current best builds I've done for my own guild are

Level 6 Engine

4.9k Mass

65.9 on all turning

97.8 speed

Level 4 Capacitor

1300 Energy

41.2 Recharge

These builds took a LOT of looking through loot. All parts for the build were looted from Witchblood Soldiers in the dath sector. Total time to get the 6 desired engines for the build was 4 days. The Capacitor was done in 3 hours with two people flying in a TIE Aggressor. Maximum reached speed using the engine, droid specials, boosters, etc. so far in a TIE Interceptor was 2100. And no...that's not a typo...it's a Level 6!

Weapon Capacitor

Recharge Rate: 50

Energy: 1205

This has been RE'd also have some armor with 1400 HP and 9k Mass and an Engine with spd 92.2 and I'm about to RE it with other engines to knock 5k off mass 700 of reactor needs and bring y/p/r into the high 60's

Crafted a capacitor last night with recharge rate of 24, energy storage 503, and mass of 6800, but of course a buddy it was built for looks at it and says thats a level 5 and I have a level 3 now thats better than that one. The same thing with the reactor i built level 5 certification, was energy of 12,999, and mass of 6k he said the same thing needless to say I put them on my vendor and was told I was charging to much for it since it was no better than any looted 3-4 part out in space. All I ask is DEV'S Please take a look at this issue seriously and closely because like statsed above A LOT of Shipwrights will stop WASTEING their time and move on. Yes that will help those SOMEWHAT that stick around but come on who wants to not ONLY COMPETE with other crafters but also SPACE LOOTED PARTS.

I found a level 3 reactor with around 13k energy and 2k mass. After being reverse engineered, it has 13.7k energy and less than 2k mass

In my opinion, loot, with a few possible rare exceptions, shouldn't be better than what a SW can craft. Perhaps it should have different strengths, such as a lower mass, but also a lower speed (for an engine for example). I think that an item really should be REd before it should become SW or just above SW level.

I agree or make loot to be added into SW parts to make uber stuff or something, but still that should still be rare as well.

Engine Level 6 ) 93.5 maxspeed 67 yaw pitch and roll but high mass

Capi Class 2 ) 39.2 recharge rateafter rev eng and 940 hitpoints front and back (didnt loot the 2myself just rev enged the components for a guild mate )

Capi Class 2) 36.7 recharge rate 890 front and back only 840 mass (after rev eng)

Here have been my observations after working through nearly 1500 pieces of lvl 1 through 8 loot and crafting several hundred ship parts built with and withoutupgrade components.

Capacitors: High quality looted capacitors are very very common. I can go to the bazaar at any givenday and find capacitors with more then 30 recharge and800 cap energy, while at the same time having less then 2000 mass. That is just the lvl 1 and lvl 2 looted stuff. Anything I hand craft that even begins tocome close ineither recharge or total energy (but notinboth)has a much, much greater mass. The heavier looted capacitors are just incredible. Right now I haveseveral RE'd lvl 4 to lvl 6 capacitors with 40+ recharge and 1000+capacitor energy storage, and thier mass is still very reasonable. Ihave yettomatch that with acrafted capacitor and again thecrafted ones tend to be muchheavier. On capacitors, looted wins and it isn't even close.

Boosters: Good craftedboosters are easy to make with an overdrive part. Good looted boosters are not nearly so common. At the mark III level I can reliably make boosters comparable to any looted ones I've seen yet, and Mark III's are still fairly light. 30 speed boosters are easy, most looted I've seen are in the 15 to 25 range. I'd award this one to the crafted part.

Engines: In crafting I make 67 speed mark III's, 76 speed Mark IV's, and 84 speed Mark V's. While there are some much better looted engines (like the 92.2 that I think everybody get's on their last tier III mission), they burn out fast and are not too common. The common loot engines tend to be in themid40'sto mid 60'sspeed range. For common availability, looted can save you some mass, but but crafted can give you a reliable source of acceptable performance. I'd call this one a draw between the two.

Reactors: Light mass = looted lvl 1 to lvl 3 with a 10k to 12kcommon generation range. Solid performance = mark III and mark IV crafted with overdrives (12.5k to 16.5k generation while still having acceptable mass). High performance = rare looted only in the 25k to 30k generation area. Waste of time and resources = Mark V crafted with double the mass but only a 2.5k or so energy generationbump over Mark IVs. The winner here is decided more by theship it is to be used in then anything else.

Armor: Reliable, solid, and available = crafted. The lvl 1 to lvl 4 looted armors are usually not worth while. The lvl 5+ looted armors are sometimes in the range of crafted but not common enough for one of the quickest items to be burnt out in ships. I think crafted wins here.

Shield generators: See armor. This doesn't burn out as fast as armor, but the more common looted ones can still bebeaten by crafted. Some uber shields can be found in space, but overall I think crafted wins here.

Blasters/Cannons: Like with so many other parts, there are some uber weapons to be found in loot, but the common ones tend to be below the quality of mark III's. For any pilot tier 2 or above, I'd say crafted wins hands down untill they luck intosome of those rare pieces of uber loot.

Just my personal observations.
