Only on here
I have a very good relationship with most of my customers, even going as far as to help them complete master pilot by offering all in their team free ammo and free launchers for the corvette (you will see these on farstar marked [LC Corp] CORVETTE EDITION xxxx, yes my relationships are important, it drives my business forward, and I get a blast out of helping people complete the tiered missions, after all the more Rebel Ace's there are, the more imperials die
It really annoys me when I see trolls on our thread, 1 star-ing our own focus thread because they are too stupid/selfish to see how hard this profession is, and talking complete c0dsh1t when it comes to discussing our profession.

Chiwawa,
Then consider yourself lucky. I quit the "SW-for-hire" gig after one too many crybabies. Admittedly, I have other sources of income in-game so it was an easy move for me to make, but for others who have to put up with that junk constantly it gets old fast.
Even so, the main problem I have with the pilots that complain (and I make a firm distinction between them and the ones that treat SWs with professional respect) is not so much that they're complaining, but that they seem to have a complete blind spot to anything that doesn't agree with them. They continually attribute false motivations (read: "ALL SWs WANT LOOT NERFED!!!!@!@!@!") to our community and rather than engage us in meaningful, productive discussion about how to make the game good for us BOTH, they sit down in the dirt and cry like weare bullies that stole their sucker.
I am ALL FOR having a substantial and worthwhile discussion with the Piloting community. After all, I'm a Pilot in-game too and I know how enjoyable it is to find great loot. The problem is that there are too many people on both sides with unyielding agendas and they tend to yell the loudest.
I was taught growing up that those who have the least to contribute often contribute the loudest and I learned early on to have a certain amount of contempt for people like that. If they would come with something constructive I'd love to talk with them. Otherwise I don't suffer fools gladly.

I am not a SW, I am a pilot, and I honestly do not think PvP decay should be as high as it is.
People are looking at this the wrong way. It is not about decay, it is about up front cost. A ship *should* cost players a lot of creds, it *should* cost over a million creds for an MP ship, with at least a 25% profit margin for the SW! Think about it.
I saw the simulation thread referred to here, and it got the major thing wrong...yeah, maintenace on a ship should cost some creds, and it should bea SW that sells repair kits, and Only a SW can get your ship back to 100% repaired. Some will be mechanics...GREAT! I want a mechanic for my ships...and some will be shipyards...and ships should cost a lot. New players will argue that they won't be able to get the Master ships as fast as they can grind master...boo hoo! Save creds, it gives the ground game and the space missions etc a goal for you.
((edit start))
I might not have been clear here, what I meant was no space station repairs, you blow up, you get towed and have to land to repair with repair kits, and you can only do a patch up, not a full repair, for that, you need a SW.
((edit end))
I mean, Master level ships at 500k....that is a steal!
/shrug
I just think this should go closer to a RL model, it is gonna cost you a lot upfront for that new car/ship, and the maint fees you pay your mechanic are going to be high too. This is how it works RL, and I think it is a great model for the SW proffesion.
And yes, down the line, parts do go bad, and eventually the ship is just to wrecked to be of use anymore, and the performance should degrade at that point. I do not think it should happen in 10 deaths, and with the above model, it would not need to as much. SW would be making good creds as mechanics ((and yes, there is a TON of stuff to be made into minigames here)) And sell the odd chassis now and again.
It is the same model I wish DE's had. Mechanics, tinkerers, specialists that can make your stuff work better, get them repaired, etc...the decay is not as much an issue then.

Alyxian,
i think your very right on your opinion of the problem. I think it would greatly help if they reduce the PvP damage in space so everyone would last long, making the dogfights feel more fun and not a two shot your dead deal. The biggest complaint is dying fast and constantly. no one should be one shot kills. either they have weak shields, or the damage delt is way to high per shot.
Why can most pilots solo 6-10 equally tiered or +1 tiered npc's but shot down almost instantly by another player? That is a big reason i don't PvP. I don't want to be a constant one-shot wonder. But longer fights, less decay on PvP will make pilots happier and won't at all hurt SW at all really.

First off, I am a pilot. I enjoy being a Pilot and I don't think I would enjoy being a Shipwright. That said, I think the relationship between a Pilot(s) and the Shipwrights needs to be a really good one. I have been looking for a reliable Shipwright for months. I would like to buy or commission for purchase both ships and components. I don't really care what the Shipwright has to charge, as long as he stays in business and is reasonably fair. Note I put his staying in business first. I am a master Bounty Hunter and yes I hunt Jedi for a living. I also do a lot of duty missions so I make lots of credits. What the heck else am I going to do with these credits other than buy stuff. I am a comsumer that appreciates the artisans I buy from. If you are a Shipwright and you have some really good lvl 8 or below components, or really good Freelance tier 4 or below ships for sale or you can make them, contact me in game. Maybe we can do business. BTW I am on Naritus.

The main problem that I see is that the majority of people disregard the fact that these forums exist. We could come to whatever consensus we want...and be ignored.
We need to organize.

Indeed, we need to be fighting for something, else what is the point?
Decay needs fixing, PvP needs fixing, scoring needs implementing, then people have something to die/live for
This is not really the focus of my post, but I am glad that there is a dialogue going.
I aint here to make uber cash, im here to make as many uber master pilots as I can, that is where I get my buzz....hence the title of the thread, it is the distain that is thrown at us that annoys me, especially when I go to the lengths I do to achieve my goal.
I have my A wing, its a work of art. I want to share it.

HeHe I try to PvP every chance I get, but I have only run across about 5 overt people in the last month, and 3 of those were perma overt bug freelancers returning from deep space that begged me not to shoot them. I don't know maybe Kettemoor server just doesn't have anybody that is interested in PvP, but I'll keep flying overt anyway. So what if I get jumped and die and incur some decay, I probably won't even see another overt player for another week and a half to two weeks, my ship would still last months this way.
I honestly don't think there is anything they can do to make PvP more interesting for the majority of people.
The ground game has proved to me over a long time that no matter what system is in place most people just aren't interested. Whenever I see people PvP on the ground it is always the same people from a group of about 20 that are fighting each other. Most people play a game like this to team up with fellow players and take on the game, not to try to kill each other for no point. I'm not saying this is my opinion as I like to PvP, but I run into a lot of players that feel this way.

Well, right now I'm a 4333 shipwright, and a 3323 Freelnace/CorSec pilot, Master Artisan, Master Droid Engineer. I canceled my account last week because the game just wasn't fun any more, and I'd started playing EQ2 and that was less un-fun.
I wasn't planning on posting any "I HATE YOU" posts or anything just leaving and not saying anything. Then they went and added SWG to the station pass, which I already had for EQ & EQ2. So, I guess I'll stay around for a while and finish the grind to master SW, but I don't forsee myself re-opening my shop any time soon. I'll just be suppplying myself with consumables and RE loot.
Speaking of consumables; as much as armor gets chewed up, they should add factory runs for that.
