Thread: Customer Pricing for Re-Engineering..
I dont charge myself, but if another SW who is not after Kuat disks wants to charge it as a service, you pay the going rate. I dont see people moaning about how much smugglers charge, its a unique service, you pay for it if you choose to.

So how would all you SW's who charge 5k per lvl feel if players charged you the same 5k per lvl for the loot parts? You do get SW xp right?
The customer gets the product back so why would you charge the shipwright? If a disk shows up, an arrangement should be made before Re to determine how to handle that.

No, we don't get SW xp for doing reverse engineering. Besides, that's the lame excuse that cheap-ass combat types use for not tipping entertainers and medics..."Why should I pay you when you got xp off me?".
Different shipwrights have different policies when it comes to charging for RE, as you should be able to tell by reading this thread. Therefore, if you don't want to pay 5K per level, then find another shipwright. If a pilot tried to charge me 5K per level for looted components, I'd go find another pilot to buy from (actually, I'd go to the bazaar where you can still find some nice deals for ship components).

No we do *not* get XP for Reverse Engineering. Next question? ![]()
Would make no difference if I did get XP; I am already a Master so the XP means very little (since itcould not be converted inthe FS Village the last time I was there).
If pilots charge 5k per level for loot parts then level 6 (for example) RE itemswould cost me 180k to simply get the partssince it takes 6 level 6 loot items to produce one RE'd level 6 item. My selling price would be 200k-250k, depending on final stats. Economics, plain and simple; I will not sell for a loss or break even.
My customers and suppliers are happy with my prices and policies, so apparently they work well for my business. ![]()
I'll charge 10k when if the proposition comes about. If they say "that sux and I'll go somewhere else," I'll say "thats fine, go right ahead", unless of course its a regular customer. Is it gouging maybe but they need to pay some with all these creds they talk openly about all the millions they make grinding in space, I won't deal w/ cheapskates, but thats just me.
They're not going to get a totally free 3800 max damage, .7 vs shield, .68 vs. armor, 15 energy per shot RE'd cannon from me. I guess maybe I'd feel different if I were pursuing the firespray though.
