I was lucky enough to get a y8 before the quest was broken and i was just wondering if you had any word on if the movement commands were fixed in the y8 as well, currently it is not possible to move items up or down in it.

My apologies for my absence from these forums for some time now, and for making the comments about the Y8 improvements slightly before I was ready to do so. That said...

I just finished testing the extra turret additions on the Y-8---two new fully functional turrets on the frontside of the ship that cover the front and sides of the ship. The range of motion on them is pretty permissive. Add that to mining laser experimentation fixes, some decreased asteroid resource requirements on items that use them, and an increase in the number of resources granted per asteroid chunk destroyed/tractor beamed, and I think mining in the Y-8 will be a more attractive proposition. Look for that change in Publish 24.

That all sounds great. But the quest to get thr ship has been broken for close to three months now. So no point really in changing the ship. If it is unavailible to us. Dont mean to sound bad but it has been reported dozens of times and no reply on the status.

I'm actually looking at the quest issue right now trying to figure out what is going on with it. I'll update you guys when I find the problem.






I have noticed that, at least on Intrepid, Kashyyykk spcae seems to think it is Tatooine! (Look at the Waypoint icons)

I hope you can sort it out. Ive been waiting for this ship since the expansion came out, what, a little over 3 months ago.

Two thing that reallyneed to be addressed in the Y-8:


* You can't currently move items up or down in it.


* It has no loot box.


As long as you are working on it, how about fixing these two items as well.

c) Set a fixed number of items to be placed total in all POB ships and let us determine the best way to spread our decorations around (this is my favorite - I need a little more flair in my yacht, and have some room to spare in my YT).


Please letus know if any of these changes are plausible and if/when you might make such a change.. Thanks!

I was so disappointed when i received that message while trying to launch my Y-8 that i packed it and now i simply store the deed in my house. There's NO WAY i would undo the decoration of my decimator just for flying a bugged, impratical ship like the Y-8. Please look into that matter, devs.

When this gets implemented, will it be possible to mine with the Y-8 solo? (And for that matter, to fly and fight with the YT-1300 solo?) Or will we have to have other people with us to use these ships?

And has anyone addressed the current bug which makes it almost impossible to see how much you have in your cargo hold?

Fixed on TC- due to go live with publish 23 (my guess is Tues - Thurs this week, but it needs a few major fixes before it's ready to go live)

What about toning down the particle effects on both the asteroids and on the mining lasers... thats what makes it so impossible to do in a turret


ALSO, what makes you think adding 2 more turrets (requiring 2 more people) is going to make this more attractive as a mining ship... when you look at it, it basically means now you have to have 5 people to mine in the Y8 instead of 3... so now you have to make it twice as good at mining... I'm missing the logic on the whole "adding turrets" idea...


what you SHOULD have done is...

got rid of the turrets that were there...

put 2 front turrets on...

give those turrets 2 guns each...

and make tractor beams a have a wider swath...

smoothed out the mouse aiming in turrets....

give the lasers a wider swath....


But hey, you make the big bucks not me, i'm just a moron.


space mining seems likea fabricated reason to go into space that miserably fails considering the only reason to mine is for ship components and if theres no reason to be in space but to mine then theres no reason to make ship components... it's interesting how you have to mine to build mining components and pob ship components yet theres no purpose to any of them since pob ships are lame. Maybe if you could mine resources in space that actually did something on the ground... weapon upgrades, armor upgrades, special land vehicles, etc.


also ... aside from mining, but at the same time to enhance mining... to really justify space, there needs to be something done with the GCW to involve space...


also something needs to be done to make it more challenging without just giving enemy ships bigger guns that blow you up in 2 hits... smarter ai, faster turning enemies, seems like tier 1 -5 al uses the same dumb ai... drive in circles until they get behind you... none try to out run then make passes at you (when they know they can't out turn you)


general thoughts: space control... integrated with land control... limit where players can declare special forces based on control....limit how players can enter into a star system... a web based control map to look at and brag about... a pvp ranking system on the web or internal browser (would be good for land pvp too)...


In closing
