IF you don't use engine overload 4 on it ever, and IF you never take damage too it via explosion, and IF you use the "Deep Space (exploit)" to repair it every outing... no, it will never get to 0.1.

IF it does get to 0.1, it will still operate fine and dandy, BUT you will be unable to run any engine overload programs on it *at all*, as this will frag the engine, and leave you dead in space.

But, unless you're either really unlucky, foolhardy, brave, or just a really bad pilot, I don't ever see any component ever getting significant decay within the next year, with the exception of armor.

Component being overloaded gets AP damage as soon as you hit the program.

In all actuality a comp with that low AP left would probably go to half performance if overloaded, since it would be more than 50% of the ap left in damage.

If deep space is... uuhg.

The only thing challenging in DS is hitting your target through the lag.

My friend made ace the other day so I took him out there, and we took down 6 corvettes in 30 minutes, no specials used.

So -- 99.9% of the pilots I know, 99.9% of the time the destination is not deep space.

HOWEVER, when you go there, no matter where the damage came from, exiting DS repairs you 100% with 0 decay.

I'm confused then, what other area has lvl 5 ships in the abundance that deep space does? I have no lag when I visit the area, although my FPS does dropto 15-20 from 30 if I am in the middle of a giganticnest of ships. At this point tier 5 ships are no challenge for me, not even 8 or 9 of them at a time, and anything less than tier 5 dies in 3 hits at most. so where are master pilots going, and why?

edit: just to clarify, the only challenge for me now is in the sheer volume of ships attacking me at once, unless i use a low level ship. so you say it's not a challenge, but my point is that it's the hardest place, unless there's someplace else I don't know about. If that's the case I would love to know where it is.

Back to decay, if the decay is figured the second you hit the program, why does my engine stay at 461.9/461.9 in a test where I would use engine overload 4, kill myself, repair to full at the space station then repeat? I did this maybe 15 times and the engine still remained at 461.9. This was right outside coronet.

Is there something I'm missing?
