Thread: Screwed by the New Buffs.

Give it some time. AFK'ers are evil and now you can expect some folks to start sitting at their screens again.
You can't expect it to happen over night though.
AFK'ers are not evil. SoE is. If SoE would have put it in as command lines then you could easily get an AFK'er to write a macro out to buff each and every crafting profession.
This trying to find a live entertainer is for the dogs.

Well to tell you the truth, dear.
Who said I wanted this as a live entertainer? I didn't. It got forced upon me by SOE, and I resent it.
Because you and I both know that you really don't want to see a show. You just want the buff. And all that does is make me hated by all of you, not loved.
You all feel like you are the ones entertaining me, instead of me entertaining you all. From where I sit, that's an awful indictment.
Face it. They wanted to get rid of BF. Unfortunately, what they found when they did that, is that there was really nothing left tying us to the game system anymore.
So they invented this system, hapahazardly. To tell you the truth, with the amount of time they spent on this, they could have given us some compelling missions, or some better system-generated content.
I would prefer that in a heartbeat, rather than deal with impatient players who resent me, and the class. Because it seems to me that none of you are really in the mood to be amused because of this. And that is detrimental to what the cantina should be about.
This change doesn't help me. It only hurts me. It makes me an object of scorn, and puts my entire gameplay in the hands of those who resent having to see me.
So if you all want the change, I'll support you. Frankly, after hearing the stories, this just makes both our games much more problematic.

As an entertainer myself I have to say I don't agree. My gameplay as a musician went from being surrounded by LIVE players all the time in cantinas to being the only LIVE player surrounded by afk'ers who scripted the music profession into nothingness. Now, I have a good chance of going into a cantina and being not only needed , but looked for!
I suspect in a few weeks these problems of finding entertainers will be much much less intense.
I have played the role of Master Musician, Master Dancer, and Master Entertainer for a long time. I was an AFK Autobuffer AND I was also part of a band 2 nights a week.
As an entertainer the game is ONLY what you make of it.
I still go into cantina's and see almost all AFK'ers. And no I don't think that will change. Yes I am currently working at hiring on an entertainer for my research town just for the buffs.
And that is only because I can't be at the keys all the time to do it myself. So now I have to hope that the guy I am paying to be there is there every day for the time he said he would be there with no way to have proof of it.
I'm sorry but yes the game is screwing over entertainers. Why punish the rest of us? Simply fix Entertainers. Make the transition's in songs smoother when doing a flourish. Make more outfits. Make more CONTENT for entertainers. Don't make them slaves. Unless all you want to be is that dancer in jabba's that gets eaten by the rancor.
Yes Now you see I am speaking from both sides of the fence..... Perhaps you would now be willing to fight the real battle instead of the wrong ones like a previous jedi correspondent used to.
BTW Thanks for all the hard work on the SW side of the fence ![]()

I know. And I feel for you. So much that SoE does is halfa$$ed and then they have to go back and fix it.
I think the problem is that ATK Entertainers were afraid of not making money. I know when I was part of my band I would make 50-100K credits for just 2-3 hours of FUN. Buffing is boring and no one wants to do it. That is what SoE doesn't understand. That is why there are so many people that do it AFK.
People want to have fun and enjoyment when they play a game. They don't want to be sitting there doing one thing all night long. I have 2 toons I regularly play. One is my crafter and one is my combatant. Why? Because I don't want to do just one thing all the time.
TBH the only thing about the inspiration buffs that is nice is the +10% to exp and assembly chances. Take that with FS crafting mastery, research status, +25 in skill tapes, and foods/drinks and you can hit almost all critical successes. Before the inspiration buff an armorsmith on my server got nothing BUT amazings and critical successes.

Time clock...have him buys something from a vendor at the begining of his shift...and have him buy somethign at the end...
Mind you this still doesn't guarantee he was where in the time bewteen....but then again...at least he was there for when he did buy the items..heh
Ok let me enlighten any one who actually wants to know the truth about this matter.
First let me say my main toon isa master shipwright, and my alt is a master in all the ent profs.
People often complain on all the crafting boards that entertainers are afk, and can't do the specific buffs, well here's why...
...If I stand in a cantina for say 4 hours, i will be lucky to make maybe 50k in tips from doing buffs. Crafters in fairness are normally the ones who tip and the average for me as a male ent is about 10k per buff. Combat players almost never tip an entertainer for the buff they recieve, (which they then use to go and make a fortune doing missions and getting loot).
So you will have to agree that there really is no real reason for me to do it, so when i log my alt on i tend to do it for the social aspect of the profesion and not particularly to make money / buff people. Now i am really sorry to all you guys having trouble getting buffed, but untill people start paying entertainers for there services i am afraid that the situation will not change. To put it into context how many yt1300's have you made and given away to random strangers?

I really dont understand why someone would feel screwed just because another badly broken profession gets a little love. Come on, we are talking 2% here, not 20%.
As a shipwright on a small server myself, I dont mind not being able to find an entertainer to buff me at any given time I feel like it. If I really want to get the very last out of my resources, I wait. Entertainers are not there for our crafting convenience or to provide service any time, they are players, like us, who like to entertain and do a bit of roleplaying in the cantinas for most of their content is nonexistent or broken. In addition, after being Dancer and musician myself, I can assure you there is nothing more frustrating than sitting in an empty cantina waiting for someone to interact with. When some guy came in, I only noticed a change because I got healing XP. Most didn't even say hi or thank you, let alone tip me. With all those FS-grind buffbot-zombies we have gotten used to a service that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
I say /applaud and thank you for the changes, even it is to my detriment.
For me this used to be a role-playing game after all. If I want to get inspired, I enjoy the show and go to my shop with a song on my lips. ;-)
PoetDancer: Thank you for being ATK.
Just my thoughts.
I dunno if someone has offered to help yet. I am an aspiring shipwright on Corbantis, but the reason for my posting is that I am a quad master entertainer on Tarquinas. I play ATK at the Theed theater whenever I play him, stop by there occasionally and I will give you a buff for half price (usually charge 50k for it). the name of the entertainer is Ifana Lightwalker.
Best wishes,
Ifana Lightwalker

I do not like these new buffs. I know it varies from server to server but is impossible to find an non-AFK muscian on Tarq. I have been looking for days. Coronet Cantina and the Theed Cantina's have been empty for weeks. I used to be able to get the old buff in Dant Mining Outpost from an AFK Entertainer that was there to buff combat levelers. I have done a find on Musician 4 times in2 days on every planet and never found one. So, basically, I am screwed. I not only do not the the 2% resource buff but lost the old 10% experimentation buff.
You have alternatives:
- Create an alt and start playing music--alot.
- Have your guild sponser a musician?
- Do a player search and start sending tells to musicians until you receive a response.
