Here's a good rule of thumb using resource deeds:

Since they sell for roughly 3 million credits on most servers, that works out to 100 cpu. So if there's a resource you need that sells for 100 cpu or more, then use a resource deed to get it. Otherwise, you're better off selling the deed and using the money to buy the resources on the market.
