I think we all agree that the Firespray is more difficult to craft than other ships. It's a very cool looking ship and right now they are fairly rare depending on the server. I've seen prices from 15 million to 25 million.
Here's where I see the problem. There is no real value in owning this ship other than as a collector's item. There is no measureable advantage in terms of performance and it's almost impossible to NOT hit it from less than 300m away!
In the very near future we are going to see a massive reduction in price on these and that price simply will not warrant the effort it takes for us to make them. Basically the Firespray is going to become 'Space RIS'. Something that is extremely difficult to craft and not really any better than Composite (X/B Wing,Oppressor,BS Attack). The only people who will want them are the very rich and eccentric.
Maybe the devs know this and that's the plan to keep them rare. We all know how they love to keep things rare. If this is the case then I guess that's O.K. but it just seems like a shame to have something that probably took a lot of work to develop not ever seen by the vast majority of players.
As a Master Shipwright I'll have one at some point or another so I'm not crying out for some specific change here. I do however see quite a lot of interest right now in the Firespray from SWs and Pilots alike which is really cool. So unless we want that enthusiasm to wane faster than a Carbineer's action bar something needs to happen ASAP...
The DEV's said from the very begining that this was going to be case from the very beginning. They wanted a rare ship that was hard to craft. Infact I remeber seeing it even refered to as that RIS of spaceships by a DEV.... but I forget where I saw that at.

Bastilaa wrote:The problem with FS is the cost and the fact many players have yet to see one in action. When I took mine up for the first time I was simply amazed at it's handling and just what it could hold in the terms of equipment. It's hard to explain but it's like the handling of a TIE (ok not as great as a TIE) with insane mass.
A TIE Adv with 65k mass turns circles around these things... And if you know what you're doing an Oppressor is even better with 170k (I think thats what it is now)... The Firespray won't be a pvp ship, and when the rebels learn how to use an A-Wing that will be there best PVP ship... but all the Luke Skywalker wanna-be's are using x-wings and its hillarious
lol the Peanut gallery speaks. I'll take the versatility of my Xwing any day over an Awing and it's agility. When you actually know what your talking about for a change come back.
Back to the point at hand. The FS is not a PVP ship. 2 Buddies of mine and I were in DS when 2 imps poped up near the ISD both in Fire Sprays. They died quickly. Then they respawned in and parked their ships on the ISD.....I guess hoping it would cover them. Another death a piece.
The problem with the FS is it has a fat back side that is too easy to shoot. It's a great ship and I will have one when I get the fragments together on my SW but I won't PVP with it.

The firespray is top notch in PVE, I've been using mine to farm tier 5 ships for loot and they don't stand a chance. I do think that you would need some serious cajones to use it in PVP though. It is manuverable enough for PVP but it's just to easy to hit.

The firespray has to be the best ship i have ever used in both PVE and PVE (strong enough shields to last some hits and my guns blow up anything VERY quickly) i have no problems using my firespray best ship in the game even soloed a SD in it twice which is difficult with its size.

If this truly is as agile as an X-wing with the mass of a B-wing, I will be looking foward to the day I can fly one of my own. It looks like a very capable ship as as. I don't take one instance of a couple of X-Wings defeating a couple of Firesprays as instant condemnation. Could easily have been the two Imperial pilots' first day in their new toys. My first day in a B-Wing wasn'tmy best, for sure.
Anyway, the only thing I would say, is to be careful what you wish for. If they were to make the Firespraythat much better than everything else, I can already see the guilds pushing even higher mountians of garbage lvl 1 and 2 loot on their frazzled SW's to get a 1337 M4ch!n3 out of the deal. They're interesting, they're rare, and if you RE and sell parts, you'll likely make at least one batch during your career as SW. I think of the FS as a bonus rather than something you work specifically at acquiring as a cash cow. Thousands of components RE'd to delete? Seems a little... dull to me. The point I'm making, is if you are not really specifically looking for a fragment, and it pops out, it's just a nice surprise. If you are specifically looking for fragments, every component RE'd is a grind, and the end result had BETTER be worth it. Other crafting professions would love to have something that might randomly pop out like this in the course of their normal crafting process. These will never hit 1 million a piece. Look to the example of RIS. I don't remember seeing a suit sell at one million, and I don't think I ever will. Or the NSEL. No one actuallyuses a NSEL, yet still they go at least 3 million.
I just hope they do not make the drop rate lower again. Casual players may soon find that their random fun item is completely out of reach.
