Thread: THE FIRESPRAY NEEDS TO BE CHANGED ASAP: HERE'S WHY

I think we all agree that the Firespray is more difficult to craft than other ships. It's a very cool looking ship and right now they are fairly rare depending on the server. I've seen prices from 15 million to 25 million.

Here's where I see the problem. There is no real value in owning this ship other than as a collector's item. There is no measureable advantage in terms of performance and it's almost impossible to NOT hit it from less than 300m away!

In the very near future we are going to see a massive reduction in price on these and that price simply will not warrant the effort it takes for us to make them. Basically the Firespray is going to become 'Space RIS'. Something that is extremely difficult to craft and not really any better than Composite (X/B Wing,Oppressor,BS Attack). The only people who will want them are the very rich and eccentric.

Maybe the devs know this and that's the plan to keep them rare. We all know how they love to keep things rare. If this is the case then I guess that's O.K. but it just seems like a shame to have something that probably took a lot of work to develop not ever seen by the vast majority of players.

As a Master Shipwright I'll have one at some point or another so I'm not crying out for some specific change here. I do however see quite a lot of interest right now in the Firespray from SWs and Pilots alike which is really cool. So unless we want that enthusiasm to wane faster than a Carbineer's action bar something needs to happen ASAP...

Not sure about worthless it is by far the best ship I have ever flown!

More agile than my X Wing, with the mass close to a B Wing. This thing holds a ton of stuff and really packs a deadly punch

Well, I crafted my first batch of 6 Firesprays just over a week ago. I gave one away, kept one for myself and held another in reserve, then put the other three on my vendor at 10m each, since i'm too lazy to mess around with auctions. I picked this price since it has been the starting price for several Firespray auctions in the Radiant trade forums.

Since then, I've sold one of the three, despite plugging them both in game and in the trade forum.

Apart from the single sale, I've seen no interest, no tells asking me to reduce the price, no offers, nothing. Seems like Firesprays were a flash in the pan.

I'll still keep RE-ing though - just need one more piece for my second schematic and 2 more for my third...

The problem with FS is the cost and the fact many players have yet to see one in action. When I took mine up for the first time I was simply amazed at it's handling and just what it could hold in the terms of equipment. It's hard to explain but it's like the handling of a TIE (ok not asgreat as a TIE) with insane mass. From memory here is what I have in my FS

2 Lvl 8 Projectiles

1 Mark 2 Spacebomb

1 Mark 4 Proton Launcher

1 RE'd lvl 6 engine

1 RE'd lvl 8 Booster

1 Mark V Shield

2 RE'd lvl 8 Armor

1 Mark V Reactor

1 RE'd lvl 6 Capacitor 52 recharge

1 EM Emitter

1 RE'd lvl 1 Droid Interface

I think thats all it has in it and I'm at 209k out of 211.5k mass and 18.5k Energy out of 19.5k

I'm not saying it's worthless I'm just saying that the other Master ships are on par with it. Why pay 10-25 million on the FS when the Oppressor or BS Attack Ship seem to be just as effective? No to mention that its back end is bigger than J-Lo's! I can hit the thing from 300m with my eyes closed!

A TIE Adv with 65k mass turns circles around these things... And if you know what you're doing an Oppressor is even better with 170k (I think thats what it is now)... The Firespray won't be a pvp ship, and when the rebels learn how to use an A-Wing that will be there best PVP ship... but all the Luke Skywalker wanna-be's are using x-wings and its hillarious

LOL That's me! I KNOW the A-wing is better, but I wanna master the X-wing anyways. The B-17.. oops I mean the B-Wing, is far to heavy and slow to even think of PvP.

Tell me about it - took out a flight of two player B-Wings and a player-flown Firespray tonight...

Being overt in a B-Wing is one thing - but overting in a Firespray? That either takes balls of steel, brains of jelly, or a wallet of +5 holding. I couldn't get around it, either - they were in my "zone of discomfort."

But have you flown one? because the I have yet to find any other ship with the mass and agility of the FS together, and I have been Master Rebel Pilot and I am now doing Smuggler Alliance.

I'm not so hot on the FS. I really enjoy my Rihxyrk tier 4 Privateer Ship. It has a little less mass only 192k, but it holds 3 guns. I pretty much have decided that missiles are a waste of time and mass, So I'm arming one more equivalent gun then a FS. Although I am giving up some maneuverability not alot though. The Rihxyrk also has a much smaller profile from the front or back. For all the belly aching the privateers do because they didnt get a single user master lvl ship, the Rihxyrk really makes up for it imo.

No, I honestly haven't. I have some of the disks and I'm sure I'll get/buy/trade the rest soon. You know, that'll be what really makes thedifference. If I do fly it andit's significantly better than my Oppressor or BS Attack Shipthen maybe I can see why Iwould be able tocharge 10 or 20 millionfor one. To behonest though it's not too difficult to make 10 million as a SW but it's a lotof extra work toget the FS.

The time and difficulty in crafting a FS needs to be balanced against how long it would take to make the same amount of cash simply selling chassis and components. The big difference here is that you can make 4-6 of them. That's potentially between 40and 120 million credits assuming you don't keep one. If you take that into account then it may be worth it. But if the price falls down to 1 or 2 million per FS then we really need to take a hard look at it. This is what I'm trying to get at in my original post.

People complain too much about the Firespray. People say it's not agile. Here's my story:

I encountered an old friend while killing Black Suns for my helmet. He said that he'd heard the Firespray was pretty slow and bulky, and I told him that it's just as maneuverable as an X-Wing, since I'd flown one before. He didn't believe me and started shooting at me, so I set my thrust to max turning and got behind him. No matter how hard he tried, he could not shake me even for a second. He was impressed.

People say the guns are too tough to use, and I say "boo-hoo." Every ship takes getting used to. When you switch from the TIE/IN to the TIE Interceptor, it's a huge change in shooting style. When you change back, you have to get used to it again. This process takesme about3 hours to get perfectly accustomed. I improve drastically within the first hour, but I'm onlyshooting at my best in3 hours. Now the Firespray took more getting used to. I'd say that all told, it took 8 hours to get used to this drastically different style. However, I find that I'm now able to kill enemies faster than I am with my Oppressor or Advanced, since my shots cover more area.

The Firespray definitely takes some getting used to, but once you've mastered it, you won't go back. The key is to stick with it until you peak. Then you get to earn a good reputation on your server, since you're able to fly a difficult ship just as well as other people can fly their super-maneuverable models. Also, you have a verynice ship, and when you pass your friends they say "damn that engine sounds cool!"
