You should note that the differences between Crafted and "Looted" components is not so much that looted are better. Technically that's true, but it's a simplification of the fact that ALL odd-level boosters, capacitors, and engines suffer this problem, INCLUDING Looted ones(and since crafters, with the exception of a couple of ordinance launchers, can ONLY craft ODD-level components, they get stuck in this group automatically).

If the base stats for only crafted versions of these components are improved, the bug will STILL remain for their same-level counterparts in loot; just as it does for Engines now, which had their base speed increased only on Crafted engines, but the loot odd-level engines still have pathetic speed(to say nothing of YPR, and the nerf of EVEN-level engine speeds that has occurred).

What they need to do is make that base stat increase for ALL odd level boosters, capacitors, and engines; crafted and looted alike. Otherwise a whole half of the problem is not being addressed. If it is NOT addressed, they may as well throw out the drops of odd level boosters, capacitors, and engines, and give us the credits for them that the Chassis Dealer would pay right when it's looted, since they're so worthless.

I'll rewrite that part and add a bit about this, but I do have a concern. Let's say for a moment that sub-components were added to the loot table. Let's even say that they increase the base stats a bit on the crafted items in question. This would give uscompetative components. If odd level loot is increased in stats as well, we will be back in the same position again. I do feel that we should address the issue of odd vs even. Just wanted to share my reservations.

Ok, take a look at that part now. See if you still agree.

yes, but I feel that by saying people both like and hate it for the same reasons makes it very likely that nothing really needs to be done with it in comaprison to the other things that everyone agrees is an issue.

IfIonly had a limited amount of time to work out issues,I'd like to know which issues everyone agrees on so I could focus on those first. I did add things like "some shipwrights" and "many shipwrights" to give the impression of how many shipwrights commented on a particular issue.

Not necessarily. I'll point to the situation with non-booster/capacitor/engine components. With the exception of the level 8 reward shield RE'ed with a high recharge level 8 shield, there's no way for any level loot shield to compare to most ofa crafted one's stats(these are made exceptionally well by shipwrights). Also loot weapons don't have anywhere near the chance at rapid fire as crafted ones. There are advantages to using either, in these cases(particularly getting the mass low in the case of looted). Reactors with superior power and low mass DO exist in loot, but they're few and far between(having people utilize shipwright ones in the mean time, or maybe even always). The same goes for armor in that case(replacing "Power" with "Armor").

Are ok with the changes to the draft then?

If it hasn't been mentioned already...

Multiple component upgrades for POB ships. Fill out that mass with extra bits... two 2500 front/rear shields for example. Works out to 5000 front/rear.

Or, increase the number of facings to 4: forward, aft, port, starboard. Then the damage is distributed over a wider area, and you can potenitally work your way out of a situation where one shield fails.

Maybe include these as upgrade parts when building the chassis in the first place.

Currently, we're not getting close to the mass cap on these ships, and they die quicker than a Tier 1 Scyk.

>OK I'm editing this because I'm either blind or its just been added as its been somewhat answered...

>but now you have an issue where you would only be able to place multiple engines if they are the same stats which without factories is near impossible to do but >this also affect players by making looted engines worthless in some chassis since you are not going to find looted parts with the same stats.

The idea of multiple engines would only be really usefull in larger ships. These ships do not benefit as much from the super nice loot engines since the ypr limits on the chassis make the high ypr engine less effective. Your right though, without at least limited factory support (10 count schematics also mentioned in the post) creating engines with the same stats would be very difficult. If limited 100% factory support was added it wouldopen up crafted engines to a new market yet still allow for loot engines to be used in single engine craft.

IIsclandar,

I appeciate your efforts in bringing forth theconcerns of shipwrightsboth pro and con.

You have addressed in your letter some items that I felt were a concern, PYR on engines and in a wayfor somone toview texture and paint kits for example (see next part),but youhave also been able to included items from others that never crossed my mind.A possibleship hanger so that a client could preview texture and paint kits on their ships would be very nice if it can work out.

One other thing that was on my possible list, which I did not see in your letter, which I hopemight be able to be addressed in your "Unable to view or work on another player’s ship"section. Can there be a way for the potential client to view the "difference" between different styles of ships or any ship design before purchasing?

Other than that, I hope some of the suggestions can get implimented.

Added a new issue in there concerning this just now. See if it describes what you are seeking well enough.

Thanks for the input too !

Not one word about lack of repeat business due to a decay-less environment...

Sheesh... even Personal Shield Generators have to be replaced after so much "use and abuse."

I guess that I'llsimply have to continue using my MSW as a personal support character and stop entertaining any thoughts... any thoughts at all, of attempting to build a viable Starshipbusiness.
