I've been shipwright for 1 month..... I deleted the persona.... after 10 million credits spend and the whole tree grinded I still Have sold NOTHING TO THIS DAY I even put my chassi to ridiculous prices like 10k for tier 2...... and parts? those I can craft don't beat what is looted..... this profession is domed to die if not all shipwright rase their prices on chassi.... maybe peoples will see it more as an expensive investment than buying a crates of food..... no joke I see food crates of food 140k going out faster than my ships....
What server are you on? On Bria, I see tier 2 ships on the bazaar for 20k every now and then as a result of SWs grinding. My business picked up when I enabled vendor search on my vendor. Now I have a hard time keeping it stocked...despite raising prices each week. PLus I don't use any resources under 900 OQ if possible. But the only sub 900 OQ resource that I will use are gravitonic fiberplast (terrible spawns lately). I'm now forced to disable vendor search every other day to allow me to craft and restock my vendor. Still, my regulars put a dent in my stock w/ vendor search turned off.

I saw t5 ships (150k resources) on Eclipse for 200k = 1.33 cpu. I asked the SW if he was serious, and I think he raised it a bit, but still.... I'd rather go back being a miner for 3 cpu than selling for less. Ergo, I don't craft chassis at all; the competition and price dumping is too tough.
But there is always room at the top for hq components. When I was building up my shop 2 weeks ago, the first customers were already coming in while I was still creating and stocking the vendors.
I make a few 100k a day now, though not selling out yet. I haven't done no advertizing (forums, star port spamming,...), so it's all mouth-to-mouth and vendor search. And quality.
A few days ago, there was a thread where it was complained about that you have to raise prices in the long run to contain demand a bit. The mistake is that as a good component crafting SW, you almost have a monopoly, so raising prices is pretty much useless.
Edit: I just took a closer look at the numbers. 2 mio cr during the recent 24 hours.

Call me crazy but one of these days im going to open up an RE part vendor and sell just parts Ive RE'd. Figure ill base it off the chassis vendor.
But ya Gotta figure labor charges. Farming parts is time consuming. Maybe charge 1 mill per L6 RE'd engine. crazy markup but theres alot of farming involed.
I wonder how fast they'd sell.

This chassis pricing is the kind of pricing I am talking about! Tier 3 ships take 60k of resources to make. So why would you sell a tier 3 ship for 100k when you could sell the resources for around 120k to 180k. And on top of that you wouldn't even have to spend time crafting the chassis?
Does anyone else think this kind of pricing is out of line? At least on the chassis?

Since starsider has a decent amount of pilots, the prices are higher. I stcok my vendor with the most popular chassis, but I do take orders.....if someone wants a dunelizard Ill craft them one on the spot. I dont do components, I let the dedicated shipwrights like tomo , orske and haga do that..I usualy end up buying the components rather than crafting because I dont have good enough recources. On starsider master lvl chassis run 400k-700k...I rememebr when I first started pilot a yt-1300 was 750k, so when I was happy when I boguht mine for 550k.

Ya I can remmeber just a month or two ago when I first mastered freelance finding an YT-1300 for 500k....it was hella uber happy day for me as most were 700k+
The only chassis I keep in stock are the rarer ones on vendor search like stated by someone else...problem was...someone else got the idea too and cut my opressor price by 200k lol...oh well...I really dont care if the thing sells it'll stay on my vendor till I leave 700k if it must...I did love the request for a kithartz ( sp ) ship custom order the other day =)...was a first time customer I believe...came in my shop musta read the BIG RED NOTICE BAG on each of my vendors for 999999999 ya know lol...and saw I take custom orders =0....hmm that reminds me...I need to look again at chasis lol see if anyhtin missin completly off vendor search =)

Right now I'm dealing exclusively in missiles and missle packs, which I sell on the bazaar for a little over 5cpu. I don't seem to have much competition, and I sell out the bazaar limit (25 items) every 2-3 days. I do mine my own stuff, though, so my overhead is low.

I'm on Ahazi too.
I've met three or four new shipwrights in the last month. Most were suspiciously masters already.... (Meaning RESPEC could have been flashing over their chars)
I don't really have a problem. If every part needs to be crafted individually, I'm never going to have time to do anything else if I sell out every day.
It's easy to start shipwright, just grind out MISSILES and sell them on the bazaar. If you want me to sell some for you, just don't put a wp in the name and bag them up. I'll buy at 1.5cpu.
Chassis is a hard grind to make profitable. You're right. Always has been. But it can be done, I guess. Just wait a looong time and remember that some people did it WITHOUT vendor search not so long ago.

Once I hit 4/4/3/2/ SW, I started stocking Tier 3 & 4 Chassis, and am finding they are selling (seems MANY SW's wont stock high end chassis) - had a Kimo type 2 and a A-wing fly off my vendor and they were so new, the rivets were still hot ;-)

Don't forget
Location, location, location
Me and a fellow Shipwright on Kettemoor happened to have the two closest SW shops to Coronet Starport. It was quite pleasing to come back to the shop and see 10-15 speeders parked around the two buildings.
I made the big chunks of credits on chassis sales, but my most profitable items were missiles and CMs (followed closely by components). Used to have a lot of pilots tell me they couldn't find ordinance anywhere else in the galaxy.
Now I got to get working again, as I have been absent from the game for quite a while
