Thread: Wanted to know from you Shipwrights

I'm just curious as o why some charge so much for ships. You do understand proces in-game have it made for new players unless they have developed and amassed large amounts of cash.
I understand you guys need a lot of resources to build ships. If the amounts are so unreasonable why don't you guys ask for them to be changed? I'm poor since I usually only have 500K of credits at max. I dunno perhaps I have been meeting nothing but greedy shipwrights?
The economy has sadly in my opinion gone out of wack. You have players with millions or players with a few 100k or less at times. Although there are no set prices in SW their are suggestions in the movies and books on what the expected prices are. The fact some people actually have millions to spar just to get an AV-21 or a rug kinda proves that. Rugs ok special fancy stuff affordable by the rich. Same with with AV-21 it's kinda of limo.
Anyway it just seems weird how NPCs only carry a few hundred credits yet almost all players have thousands.
Personally the richest of the rich should only have a few million. Of course that's my opinion.
I dunno I just think ship prices can be a little high.
Let me give you some facts that you might have overlooked.
80% Kin Comp Armor - avg 250k
Good T-21 rifle - avg 60-75k
Doctor buffs - avg 12-15k
rugs - 500ki!!!!!
BER 13 Heavy Mineral Harvestor 125-150K
You can see just from these few common examples I've listed here that any arguement about ships costing "so much" has very little legs to stand on. When stun based comp armor reaches about 500-600k, it alone costs more than all but the largest ships shipwrights make. Doctor buffs alone cost 3/4 of what I charge for my novice ship, and a T-21 rifle costs as much as I charge for my tier 1 ships. One BER 13 Heavy mineral harvestor costs as much as I charge for my tier 2 ships, etc.
Ships are not expensive, per se. Some Shipwrights might charge more than I'd consider, but by and large, ship prices are in line with everything else. Shipwrights have to invest millions into resources, along with harvesting as much as they can on their own, and that cost is going to be passed along to the customer.
As far as pricing goes... People always talk about having to pay so much for materials, but I myself harvest my own resources. I pay less than 1 cpu no matter what the quality is. It takes me approximately 30 minutes on average to locate a decent concentration and drop my harvesters. Sometimes it can get a little tough and take as much as an hour. But, then I leave my harvesters there for a week and come up with 600k - 900k units.
My harvesting the materials myself I can sell for much cheaper. I currently have tier 1 ships for sale for 45k credits. About 30k of this is profit. I don't even consider the price of my vendor and house because they are not worth mentioning. Travel expenses? I fly my own ship. I pay no travel expenses...
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that the shipwrights who charge high prices are the ones who probably don't harvest their own stuff.
Guess you should be happy this is a game economy and not RL
I would however like to get some shipwright opinions:
I sell at 7cpu for chasis. Too high....to low.....?
(Note...that these are not made w/ grind quality material)

Hmm that explains things. I just don't understand the reasoning for such requirements.
I guess I'll just grind more missions. Not anything against you guys ever. I mean that's a lot of money, 500k for just a ship blueprint? I must be extemely poor cause I don't have that kind of spare money.
Well I will leave now seeing as their is no point in discussing this further.

You are getting ripped off then, I only sell my chassis for 2 cpu each, plus the cost of buying it.

You could also become a shipwright yourself. It's really not that difficult.

My reply..........
I dont believe you understand what is trying to be said. You spend about 6M resources to get Master. Once you do you must have about the same to get a decent shop running with items. If you are lucky you have all the resources. If you are not you have to compete against the rest of the NOVICES and Masters trying to get the same resources. All are offering 3-4cpu for the resources but the sellers what more!! Then we have a dilemma, do you pay more? or do you do what the Master Armorsmith said and harvest your own?
Well thats where you have a nice problem.... not everyone has more then one account. Then I have to consider that I need to have 6 UNIQUE resources to craft some of the components that will make my items a bit better then the looted ones......Then I need insane amount of STEEL to not only make the Chassis but to make the rest. And well, I can get cheap steel harvested without a problem for the Chassis at time, but I cant use that same steel to make the components since they require the BEST you can get for the stats customers want! Whew.....im spent even reading this.......and you have all of you trying to get all the STEEL, ORE, COPPER, IRON, and ALUM you can get for your Weapons, Armor, Swoops to add to this equation..........
Well, I am Master Shipwright. I charge
10cpu x Resources to Make for Chassis.
15cpu x Resources to Make for Components.
All except the Missles Packs, Counter Measure Packs and Component Enhancer I have to make by hand. Yes the price is reasonable on Corbantis. I dont mind if people are poor, they know they can talk to me. I just rather not have anyone tell me, I just saw the BLAH BLAH vendor selling that for LESS..... to which I say....why did you not buy it.....thats a great deal! I hope that SW will have enough to keep the shop running longer then a month.

If you charge chassis for 2 cpu plus buying it....you are an idiot.

Then um why don't you guys try to get that changed. That's what I meant. Nobody seems to be pushing for this though so clearly it must be possible.
I understand it takes like 50K of resources just to build some ships (usually more) but um why hasn't it been made clear to the Devs that this is a bit insane or overdone.

Pass the pipe mate, you've had too much.
You go tell the devs what to do, I've been trying for 15 months and have got nowhere.
