Thread: New Shipwright Pricing

May I suggest that "you" just price where "you" feel comfortable with and "not" worry about any competitors pricing?

If you price to sell, then you might have many customers, but what else can you do besides craft and mine? That sort of life is not too fun.

You'll basically need to stock @1mil units of steel at all times, which means your harvesters are running almost all the time. You'll basically need to stock @500k or ore (Carbonate/Siliclastic/Extrusive & Intrusive). Don't forget @250k or so of Aluminum or the @250k or so of Polymer or @250k or so of Fiberplast or @150k or so of Iron, or @150k or so of Inert Gas. Oh yeah...you got to also stock High Grade Poly Radioactive, Conductive Borcarbitic Copper, Perovskitic Aluminum, Crystallized Bicorbantium Steel, and Unstable Organometallic Reactive Gas.

So what are your opportunity costs of undertaking all of this? You will outlay millions of credits worth of resources to be a viable SW.

If you can sell these resources on the open market at 3cpu or more, why would one ever consider selling a specialized crafted product for anything less than that?

Just my thoughts...I've endured 4 active shipwrights in my town, now I'm the last active one. My prices are not the most expensive or the cheapest. What I do have is consistency, product, and customer service. That's what will be your ticket to enjoying the trade and enjoying the game.

All depends on server economy. On Farstar alot of shipwrights are (thankfully) dropping out after thet destroyed their own economy by undercutting. Where an Armoursmith charges 20 cpu for his finished goods, I can only charge 3 cpu and am lucky to sell one chassis a week. Too many 1doits sold their level 2-3 blueprints on the bazaar for 6k. Now the only way to make money by selling ships is by selling Firesprays for 5million a pop. Unless the same dweebs start selling them for 100k.
It's tough to get Firespray schematics btw.

And I dont sell made components because re'd components at the higher levels are much better than crafted components. And you get a chance to get a firespray disk by re'ing.

Well if you use Uber resources on Shields,Weapons,Armor,Boosters,Engines,Reactors You can get close or sometimes better stats than looted items. No your not going to equal Uber looted parts thats why they are looted , However my boosters are far better than anything you can loot I have made Mark 4 weapons with good stats but Vs is always going to be the selling point on those. My armor Is the best around and sell tons of mark 2 and 3 armor . My shields ARE better than loot only loot ive seen better is the reward shield . For instance Mark5 2310 front 2497 back rech 15.01 mass 38000 . I have customers that love my components . I think one of the issues is steel with Low CON other resources you can find with High CON but ive only seen 1 spawn in 2 years where CON on steel was +900 and 2 times where it was +800 I have stockpiles of these steels from when I harved for other prof.Use the best resources and you will make very sellable parts.

M1 5.4k

M2 14k

m3 27k

m4 68k

m5 130k

This is what I charge on bloodfin using uber resources. Countermeasures and missile launchers are priced differently since their resource requirements are not consistent with their "mark" title.

for components:

Mk I = 3k

Mk II = 10k

Mk III = 20k

Mk IV = 50k

Mk V = 100k

these are prices with the optional subcomponents. i also sell "E" series (Economy) with out the subs for 25-30% less, and some Premium parts for 25-30% more.

for missles, etc., i go for 20 cpu, and they sell steadily.

for chassis, i generally buy someone else's just to keep examples on the vendor for the buyer's convenience. it is really not worth tying up the incredible volume of resources in chassis when you start out. you may have plenty from grinding to master if you went that route, though.

a good way to get a feel for the market on your server is to spend a couple of hours cruising the vendors via the bazaar. that way you can see what others charge for similar items, and get comfortable with how you might want to approach pricing.

no, wait, i saw this game... "pong" i think it was called. it was really easy to understand! maybe you could make swg more like pong! think of it! fast paced action! iconic characters! MORE FUN!

My prices seem to go over very well, at least on Sunrunner:

All Regular Chassis: 3 CPU

Firespray Chassis: 7 Mil

All Munitions/Launchers: 8 CPU (Made with only the best resources.)

Components: Comes to around 4-6 CPU:

Mark I: 2k

Mark II: 6k

Mark III: 10k

Mark IV: 20k

Mark V: 40k

12 Million resources? Hahahaha.....Hahahaha..... Well I guess it doesn't help that I'm an architect as well, as that's one of the most resource-hungry profs in the game, but I recently calculated my stock at OVER 50 Million resources. Which is just friggin' crazy.....

I sell all my components at a straight 5cpu and chassis at 3cpu(when i sell them which is not often).

I have collected a large amount of resources(120mil) to handle demand if necessary.

I never vary my pricesat all have been at these prices since day 2 of JTL and have allways done great buisness. I use an excell spreadsheet to keep track of my sales and stock accordingly.

Good Luck in the shipwright buisness.
