Thread: 1million credits for a MarkIV engine?!?!

Someone tried to charge me 60 Million credits for a level 10 Blaster with 50k mass and 3- 3.8k Damage with 0.7V Shields and 0.4V Armour.
Hmmm...
that sounds a bit high but I can attest to the fact it cant be crafted. The value of loot and its rarity follows one crazy guideline of value and crafted items follow a completely different one. In the 'oh by the way' category, your reward level 8 blaster has the same damage and vs armor and shield. You can reverse engineer its mass down to 26k or so as well. Its energy per shot is 14.1 before RE and its speed is usually faster than level 10 loot. 60mil still seems expensive to me
On my server, and I bet some others.
There is really a demand for a good SW shop, one that stocks high quality RE'd parts including rewards and high quality crafted components. I ran a shop of this nature for about 2 months. I sold RE'd lvl 7 guns for 1.5 million and sold them all (9 of them I think). I sold Reward RE'd lvl 7 guns (Sienier Systems Boltdriver) for 3m each and sol them all (4 i think). I sold Reward lvl 8 guns re'd (borstel blasters and whatever the rebel reward one is) for 5m each and sold all 6 of them. I sold RE'd lvl 10 engines for 5m and sold them all. The list goes on and on. At the same time I was crafting reactors and shields and a few other things, and they were selling with the rest at 50-100cpu (they were the best) but I could afford to charge enough to even use veteran 30k rewards to get a rare steel that was to old to buy. Like I said I charge 100% markup over the cost to replace the resources I use, but I rarely use anything less then the second best resource ever to spawn on the server in a certain category. I did have an advantage having been a heavy miner/architect for the 2 years proceeding JTL, and completing all 9 masters (now 11). Even though I might only see 5-10 serious customers a week, they were all multi milionairs, and bought everything without pause. I also made sure to stock all of the already programmed droid chips (every type, major time consumer, but I got 20k for the ones I couldnt make, and 10k for the ones I made). Probably averaged 10-20m a week for 8 weeks, I was able to keep my shop stocked because it didnt have too high traffic and make a killing.
Basicly I have decided that unless you are a powergamer and a RL student there is no way to run a good shop (well stocked always) without factory support and a change to the resource gathering system that prices too the masses. This has effectivly left huge gaps and leads to people paying 1m for an inferior mark 4 engine like the one above. But if you follow my little formula atleast you can do well. Will require alot of master grinding on your part though.
Current pricing scheme is:
RE'd Loot lvl^3 unless below
RE'd Guns lvl 6=500k, 7=1.5m, 7reward=3.0m, 8reward=5.0m, 9=2.0m, 10=5.0m
RE'd Engines lvl8reward=2.5M, 10=5.0m
RE'd Shields lvl 8 rewards=3m
All other RE'd rewards of any value, ie boosters, smaller shields ect... 2*(re lvl^3)
All crafted components 100% over cost to replace resources (only do nearly the best and end up eating alot of resources as better spawn.)
Also have built several full designs, they tell me the chassis they want to deck out, and I sell them 5-20m in parts to deck it out. (my favorite I just wish we had a tool to like the launchpad to check mass and energy requirements. I might spend 4 hours in game down to the last armor point, I even built one that was withing 1 mass point at the end.
Tis not for fluff just the way it is. Defintly support changing factory support. So the masses can find some good shops well stocked at prices that are reasonable.
Fuss
The only other thing I can think of to do with SW, is to band together with several other SW's and have one person make engines, another shields ect... Then figure out how to divide RE'd loot and sell that also. But I think to do it really well you will have to be pretty active yourself in space.
Anyways working on opening a new shop with a few other SW's right now. I think I have atleast 2 others. Its just too time consuming by yourself.
O_O
People dont seem to know whats out there, or even how to use vendor search.
Tooooo much money. This kinda reminds me of today how a buyer refused to come to the player city my vendor is in and buy a BARC kit for 230k, yet would buy multiples for 500k because it was right outside of theed and he didnt want to come to talus.

My god, I have gotten better results than that and given the engines to friends.

That used to hold weight back in the days of 10min shuttle waits but considering its an instant travel to talus (assume has has jtl if he buying barc parts) and then 60 seconds to your town. Thats like some of the requests I get in my field. I had someone talk about how much 'work' it was that a button was popping up on the other side of the screen and they had to go click that button and then come back to the left side to continue working. Work? are you kidding me?!?! just 200 years agou we had to hitch a iron plate onto a skid and tie that to an ox to till the soil in order to plant food that kept us from dying. Now suddenly a 10 degree wrist rotation is work? The extent human laziness can decend to amazes me sometimes.

I can see EXACTLY why these engines would sell. I've spent over 20 game hours searching SW vendors on Eclipse and found NOTHING to come close to those engines. Most often I found empty vendors or vendors with a couple of low grade loot items on them. The galaxy search is borked at best (at least on eclipse) with the stat screens not loading on half of the terminals. If the other galaxies are anything like eclipse then SW are in short supply.
BTW I posted here and on the trade boards looking for an Eclipse SWfor the past 4 days and got ZERO response. That is somewhat telling in my book.
