Thread: Possible Fix for Looted Components
As far as making loot a bit more rare, well if you added something like this but didnt make loot a bit more rare, everyone would be making loads of uber stuff.

Agreed, how about you nerf-callers try pushing for fixes to Shipwright rather than trying to ruin the game for those of us who specialise in RE and pilots who enjoy loot hunting.
Drop-frequency of good loot HAS been reduced, looted engines ARE capped at lower speeds, and now the loot-tables are all borked again because of the changes the devs keep making to satisfy you lot(tier-innapropriate loot). Ask the devs to make YPR one experimentation bar, ask the devs to increase the spawn-frequency of the new SW resources, just stop trying to turn loot into a copy of the ground game.

/agree. The most enjoyable part of the game for me right now is loot hunting in space. I have 3 houses right now that I store space loot in until I meet up with my SW about twice a week. She is also an architect, so I provide her with huge stacks of resources, and she provides me with RE work. There are several components out there that you MUST have made by a SW, as looted components can not compare, so it does work both ways. Take armor for example. I've got a bag of 20 lvl 10 armor pieces, and not one piece compares to a player made one. Also, take a look at weapons. Without player made lvl 7 weapons on my X-Wing, it would bea piece of junk. The mass and energy/shot on looted lvl7 weapons are extremely higher than player made.
Reading through these forums, I'm starting to get very confused. Even with all the loot that I pull out of space every single day, I've still spent over 5 million credits to SWs for chassis, components, etc etc etc, and I'm not even using projectilesor chaff yet. The reason is simple. The cost is outrageous, and I understand the resource requirements are also insane. I'm not about to spend 25k credits per shot for Tier 4 Protons, but that's what they cost right now. In my opinion, you'll be better served to request for lower resource costs on your dispensible products, such as these, to make them affordable to the player base, while still making a profit for the SW.
If I sound passionate about keeping the space loot system as is, where anybody has the chance to loot very cool components, and "customize" them by combining, it's because I am. I believe this is one of the most innovative loot systems I've ever seen, and I've played a lot of MMORPGs. The bottom line is, every player must find a SW to do the RE work for him, regardless of what he/she loots. If you're doing that work for free, maybe that's what needs to be looked at.
Exactly. The one saving grace for me in this game has been JTL and looting is so much fun. The more loot I get the more fun the game is for me. It does not matter if 99% of the loot is crap. I may go though 60 looted items before I find something that i actually want to use. In many cases I do not actually use the item but if it has one really good stat I like then I will put it in my house to be reverse engineered later. Just "having something" such as loot makes me feel like I am getting something out of the game for the work that I put into it. Credit chips alone are not nearly as fun. I have made several protest posts about this which I tried to do in a constructuve way, but they are generally received with flames and hatred. All that I ask is dont let the greed of a few ruin the game for everyone else. I know many shipwrights that are doing very well. I always start out with Shipwright made stuff and generally only end up with a looted capacitor or engine. At higher levels, player made items and player reverse engineered items are generally superior.
I am a shipwright myself (although still low level) and I love the reverse engineering game and how they set everything up. I just dont understand why the shipwrights trying to take this profession and make it just like weaponsmith or armorsmith. If you dont like the way things are then why dont you go try another profession and let the vast majority of the people who really enjoy the game have some fun?
Ive got a couple of pre-nerf capicators that have a 30-35 recharge rate at lvl6. Now im not finding anything with over a 25. They nerfed more that just that quest reward engine my friend.

Untouchable PvPr? Most of the loot nerfed? Good god man are you playing the same expansion? ONE engine was nerfed. PvP is nearly 1 hit kill for anyone with a decent blaster.

Interesting. I'm still getting lvl 6 capacitors with 45+ recharge rate.
I don't want them to nerf loot, but we do need a few improvements to our crafted items. And looted subcomponents or limited-use schematics are interesting ideas, but as both a pilot and a shipwright, I really like the current system. Our crafted items may need a bump up in quality, and augmenting the present loot with other drops could make it even more fun, but I really don't think the system we've got needs to be replaced.

Yes, may the gods forbid that you greedy pilots actually have to buy components. I cannot fathom how players have survived in this game for so long having to poor huge quantities of cash into armor, weapons, food, and buffs. Why should space be any different.
Forgive the response here, but I'm sick to death of listening to players whine about having to part with their credits. I didn't realize that the point of the game was to see if you could load up your bank account with credits until you were banned for being suspected of duping.
Finally, I would like to point out that this idea wasn't going to take away your precise looted components. If you read carefully, I proposed to leave loot alone and change the RE process to generate a limited use schematic instead of a component. However, if you're going to whine about it, we can leave the option to the shipwright during the RE process.
