Just when i thought i understood the whole reverse engineering thing...
I saved up lvl 8 boosters to have them RE'd by a master Shipwright. Ran into one yesterday and he agreed to do it for me. I traded him the stuff and after a minute he traded it all back and told me that i didnt have enough boosters of the appropriate level. I have a satchel full of 10 boosters that are all level 8 components and they all have a reverse engineer level of 8. Sooooo whats up with that? Is there some stat that only a MSW can see or something? Im very confused now. Lol. I saved up 8 level 8 shields over the weekend, took them to a MSW and he slapped em all together no prob, so was I just lucky that time or what?

If you are 100% sure that you had at least eight boosters of RE level 8 then either the SW didn't know what he was doing or he encountered a bug I've never heard of. Should've worked.

The RE level isn't always the same as the component level. I have no Idea if this is intended or a bug, but that's the way it is. It throws people off, I know it's thrown me of on a few occasions, but you get use to looking for the RE level rather than the component use level when rummaging through parts to RE. I've found this awkward level/RE bug occurs most often in Droid interfaces. I've seen level 7 and level 8, even a level 10 cert Droid Interface with an RE level of 1, and I've seen a level 1 cert droid interface with RE level 4. Weird stuff, just have to keep an eye out for it.

I think it is a bug but it could also be a good thing if they dont change it. Can you see geting a Lvl 10 weapon with lvl 10 stats but is a lvl 4 RE. You could get a very light weight lvl 10 weapon. Or Im guessing if you put in the lvl 4 weapon in first, you could get a very good damage lvl 4 weapon.
I have some parts like this but have yet to test it out.

All 10 of the parts are component level 8 and they all have RE levels of 8 as well. Checked and double checked. So that means something is up with at least 3 of them cuz i should only need 8 and I supplied 10. Maybe I have some buged loot items in the mix... *shrugs*

This is strange. You might want to ask a shipwright to borrow (buy) a RE'ing tool from him. You should be able to use it to load your RE'd items into it. The tools seem to be pretty smart as they will only accept like items of the same type and RE lvl as the first one that goes into the tool. Once you get 8 blasters into the tool, trade it back to the SW and have him press the RE button.

Try only giving 8 at once? Not sure if it was any effect, but putting too many in may throw it off, don't know why someone would put more than he needs in, but it could happen.

Some SW's think that the parts all have to have the same name as well as RE level. Don't know where that got started but have run into it several times.

yeah, thats because when you examine the reing thing it says that you have to put in that number of identical components, dont know why it says that

I would totally try a different shipwright to do the RE. Unless perhaps he can tell you why it didn't work and have it make sense. He may have had that inventory bug where it doesn't show everything in the pack until you resize it. Maybe he saw level 8 items and only 4 or 5 of them appeared in the container you gave him.

Originally during Beta testing, each item DID have to have the exact same name, not just be the same component with the same RE level. This was changed either in late late Beta or when JTL hit live. Not sure which, but it was a couple of weeks after the live release that I read that they had eased the RE requirements.
