Thread: As shipwrights, what do you dislike about ROTW
--
So far we have:
Some shipwrights are very worried that chassis given out as quest rewards signals a move undermine the player focused economy.
Thunderheart has responded to this issue with the following :
"As far as the new ships earnedon the RoWquests? They will remain that way. Looking to the future, players will get more items to craft and there will also be more quest/loot items - - it isn't going to be all one or all the other."
Later in the same thread Thunderheart said the following:

Crafters craft the vast majority of player used equipment in the game. Crafted items will always have a high value and so will some loot. Some crafted items will be better and some loot items will be better. Its never going to be an "either/or" situation. Sometimes great items will be craftable, sometimes they will be schematics and sometime they will be quest rewards.
I think the important thing to underscore is that the great RoW items are quest-loot, not loot drops. It important to have quest rewards that are satisfying and RoW is a very quest oriented expansion.

So, to me it sounds like there will be a delicate balance between quest/loot items and crafted items in the future. They have our suggestions on this so let's hope for the best and move forward. However, if you'd still like to express ideas on this matter feel free, let's keep it constructive please
An alternative to the chassis given as quest rewards could be:
- A quest made with shipwrights specific content could grant the skill to make the chassis from that point on.
- A limited use schematic that would allow for 1 -5 chassis.
Many shipwrights would have prefered the paint/texture kits become all purpose rather than continue to grow in number.
- All purpose paint and and all purpose texturekit : Made with asteroid resources and ground resources, these kits allow you to apply any known paint/texture scheme. This could be expanded further to allow the number of designs in the kit to increase with skill level. Perhaps all kits have the same number but master kit as two special ones.
- Current paint kits go away andshipwrights are granted the ability to paint other player's ships similar tothe way ID works.
Schematics that require asteroid resources are calling for UT as a stat, yet the asteroid materials seem to only have OQ and no UT. Without UT on the asteroids resources, quality is suffering greatly. (this is known issue, no details yet, but they are working to resolve this)

that and the dificulty in using the Y8 to actualy mine the new resources
- That the reward ships are deeds rather than schematics.
- That the reward ships can be farmed by running the quests over and over.

- The new, most saught after Spacecraft are gift deeds.
- Space mining is slow, and very, very buggy.
- The new chassis are superior in every way to the old ships, rendering them obsolete. This is now the second time I've had a vendor full of blueprints I couln't sell.
- The viability of the Y-8 as a practical craft.
- More Texture Kits?!
- The new, most saught after Spacecraft are gift deeds.
- The new, most saught after Spacecraft are gift deeds.
and... - The new, most saught after Spacecraft are gift deeds.

Is this really true? I thought the new quests could only be done once.Slim Vargo, Corbantis
Attempting to find out...
1. New ships not being a limited use schem.
2. Y-8 is useless for mining.
3. The paint kit / texture kit issue of course
4. QUEST REWARD SHIP COMPONENTS!!!!
[Yes its true ... ran the mission myself today "Nym's Star Map Quest"]
Ok im not a shipwriht
but i do agree that they should have someway of making the new ships in ROW
Having managed to finnaly get the Advanced X-wing as a quest reward i find myself wondering wether or not i want to risk loosing it
started off with 2k chasis and was blown away when trying to help someone else finish their advanced ship quest....repaired the ship and lost 200 chasis points
so at that rate ill only be able to repair the ship 10 times before i have no chasis points left
So there is a need for shipwrights to be able to craft them.
Even if it entails the pilots to do a renewable quest or spend faction points for a scematic
crafters need to be kept in this as there is a large number of the playerbase that likes to craft.
and from what i can see the quests for the ships are a one time only quest.....
