Strait from IGN

There are some new additions in space as well. Rage of the Wookiees will allow players to mine asteroids in every space zone. Asteroids will yield up raw materials that can then be sold to artisans. We're not entirely sure what types of resources you'll be able to collect but we do know that the more valuable resources will be located in more dangerous areas. Although any ship in the game can be modified to mine asteroids, there will be a new, as-yet-unnamed ship specifically for mining. The new mining ship will also double as a party ship since it can hold up to 20 players at a time.

This will come with the expansion that will come out when EP 3 hits the theaters.

Way cool

Love to see what kind of mining ship they have in store. It's reported that any ship can mine... I presume that's going to mean a lot more people in space, squatting at asteroids? It's a great idea from a commercial standpoint, having ships solely to mine from, as well as adding more life into space. Can't wait to see more of the same, perhaps different freighter types, or even the ability to go pirate on someone's miner

The way it sounds is that there will be a mining module or component added to the ship to allow you to mine from it. I would suspect that it will have mass so it will take up space.

So, the mining ships might be like multi-passanger ships but for lower level pilots. But they did say one would be able to hold up to 20 people, which i would consider a capital ship. Who knows. We will just have to wait for more offical words.

Yeah one of my RP buddies mentioned this to me the other day, it sounds really cool. I can't wait for more space features and new stuff to craft. It makes me feel productive!!!! Wooo!

while I can find the title of the alleged expansion, I can't find any hard data on it. Where did you find this?

I saw a picture of the first prototype tie/jedi starfighter in the new Star Wars Insider that Young Anakin and young Obi-1 will be piloting they look exactly like the Game version In the pic too your Link..JediStarfighter 2 too bad they didn't have that desighn in the 70s when they made the first movies it looks far superior to the original TIES.Cool but must be a master Ship or who would use it reb or imps since the alliance is the empire and the rebels have the JediStarfighter.I think they will add a Jedi Ace pilot class for all those Force Sensitive Junkies and they will be the only one too use it.

I dunno....I've been thinking about this and reading as many posts as I can...and what keeps coming up in my mind is that in ALL the Star Wars movies and novels (and I've read most of the novels), there is no (and I repeat NO) vessel that could only be piloted by a Jedi (at least none that I can think of. I understand that at one time the jedi were probably big and wealthy enough to have thier own line of fighters, but that doesn't mean they were the only ones who could fly them.

Another thing I've been seeing alot lately is "This new ship better not be as good as 'this' or 'that'", and similarly "this better not give an advantage to the jedi, or I'm going to quit this game...". OK, I can agree with this to an extent, but I don't think it will be a Jedi only ship. And even if it were, I can't imagine why the devs would want to give the jedi any advantages over anyone else in space (and yes, I've seen the ground game but that's imbalanced and being corrected). The truth of the matter is just because you're a jedi doesn't mean you're the best pilot...even in the movies the only pilot to walk away with 2 Death Stars on his X-Wing was Wedge Antilles, not Luke Skywalker.

I think this new ship should be equal to any other ship in JTL, if it's fast/agile then perhaps it should be low mass. That's up to the designers to work out, personally I'm not too woried about it.

Oh, and Ultron69, this post didn't really have much to do with your post, I'm not /targeting you or anything

Luke was busy fighting Vader and the Emperor to be flying with the Rogues. So, yes, technically Wedge is the only one with two Death Stars on his X-wing, it's not that Luke couldn't have done it. (or Han for that matter)

I just read the article. Pretty cool, though I wonder how much material we'll be able to harvest from the asteroids at a given time? There was no mention of any static space installations one could leave in space, much like the harvesters in the ground game we can plant and then go home. I'd imagine it would be kind of like resource sampling in space, only we'd get larger chunks of material. Hopefully it will be enough of a resource yield to make it worthwhile.
