Seriously, something needs to be done about the outrageous overpricing of starships. Not everyone who plays is a freakin billionaire or has the means to be one.Why arepeople greedy IN A FREAKIN GAME? I know all about resources and what it takes to build ships so don't try to play it off like it costs the shipwright something.

If you're not willing to pay that much, just gather all the resources needed yourself. I'm sure you'd beable to find a SW who would be willing to construct your TIE Bomber for a small fee, if supplied with the resources.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. Glad to know that there might be one reasonable shipwright out there...possibly...maybe one.

I was glad a guildmate became a shipwright recently. Too bad it was after I bankrupted myself in space

But she gladly made me stuff for just providing her with a few resources, and when she found out I was working on my exit mission for tier 4, she surprised me by putting a YT-1300 deed on my vendor!

So yea, try to befriend a shipwright and see if they'll build you one in exchange for some steel, iron, aluminum, ore fiberplastand polymer

Tell all your miner friends to lower their prices on crappy resources if you want cheaper ships.

All too often now I'm seeing complete ASS materials for 10cpu +.

At this rate, it's more profitable to sell the resources, as you've probably heard, than it is to spend time making a ship and putting it on a vendor.

I'm sick of all the stingy people on the servers who think that a SW should provide for a customer not matter what his loss is.

A guy yesterday wanted me to build him a ship with "good parts" included, AND pay for the chassis dealer to make it, in exchange for 3 looted parts (levels 2-3).

Is this becoming the norm?

ugh i dread when you have to look for a decimator. really though. dont blame us blame the devs. or the miners or the .....

i mean some of these ships take 60k, 90k and 150k units of steel. do the math. i have put several decimators on my vendor and some freak over the price. 150k units made with material that cost what. 3-5 cpu. and that is for a crap chassis. which im sure wont matter in that level of mass with a decimator. but tie advanced and aggresors and oppressors... shoot people dont want my crap chassis interceptors cuz they need to squeeze as much as they can into that ship. that one alone with good materials is gonna push 700k.

i have mentioned quietly in other posts that the developers should half the material requirements to pull in the costs of these ships so more people can comfortably afford them. /shrug. they made the game and most shall suffer i guess with the ingredient requirements.

I being on kauri also work out deals with pilots to help them get higher end ships a little cheaper, but yes the resources on our server are outrageous at the moment going at least 10cpu for steel and anywhere between 10-15 for aluminim. So if prices on that stuff lowered then you dang right we could lower a tad but when you think about a TIE Bomber that uses 60,000 resouces the crafter is only charging you 8.3cpu per, yet you pay ALOT more than that for your armor and weapons I can assure you. The problem is we use more resources so the price is high and thats the first thing that comes to mind is how can they be so damn greedy or stingy!!

I will say this is a tad higher than what I charge but then again I may have got a better deal on resources than this person did.

Yes I also do ships for 5k each if they supply ALL the resources, why 5k you ask, because I have to stop from what I was doing to make the ship and experiment like they want so I feel my time is worth at least that little!

I'll respond to your twiddly little post that it doesn't cost shipwrights anything. I buy my resources and pay on average 4cpu, plus the time hunting regularly on vendors for the right materials. If you don't like my 5-7cpu pricing you can shoot yourself now. It is a fair price based upon my costs... and ships are the lowest return on investment compared to components and suck a ton of resources. I'd rather not have so many resources tied up in ships for such a small return, but I do, so you can get what you want.

Sorry, but that 1cpu ship that you've heard about is only from people dumping their wares. I won't take a loss.

Interesting sentiment. Though I'm not going to defend anyone selling for 10cpu here, I'm curious. Do you also post these types of messages in the Armorsmith or Weaponsmith forums? Do you post in your trade forums about rugs being sold for a mil or more? For crystals and pearls being sold for 5-10 million? For rebel/imperial banners being sold for 3-5 million each?

Obviously, if you don't like the prices you see, you shouldn't buy from that shop. But to come here and complain about it more than a little silly. Vote with your pocketbook and go find someone that will sell you what you want for the price range you want to buy it in. If you can't find anyone that will do that for you, then I guess you're just out of luck. Sort of like wanting a full set of PVP Comp for 100k huh?

From another prespective, when rugs are being sold for more than most ships cost, I think more than just this little complaint of yours needs to be addressed. Hmmm?

This topic really gets me fired up.

Please do some of the following before complaining about chassis prices...

1. Take a look at the amount of resources needed to build ships

2. Think about the amount of time spent not only harvesting, but also the time to survey, drop harvesters, survey for power, drop harvesters for power, etc, etc.

3. Take a look at steel prices...on Lowca the steel prices shot up after JtL went live...and that is if you can find any steel for sale.

4. If I were to make and sale all of my chassis at "reasonable" prices, it would not be worth my time. That is why I stopped making chassis unless for a guildmate. If someone asked me to make a ship for them if they supplies the resources, I would gladly do it for a small fee.

5. Maint on factories/houses to store all these resources

6. Maint on the vendors

7. TIME, TIME, TIME. I'm here to play a game and have fun...maybe make some credits on the side. I'm not here to sell low quality chassis for less than market value.

8. Did I mention TIME? Time mastering the profession comes to mind...

I got an email the other day that simply stated:

"I found a TIE Fighter just as good as your
super-expensive ones for 6000 credits."

Good for you. Congrats on your chassis made with poor resources. Even with low quality resources I'd say this is a very good buy. I'm not really sure why you would need to email me telling me this though. It just makes me scratch my head and wonder why someone would be so rude. As far as "super-expensive" goes, if you consider a 6 cpu ship that comes with all questions answered, help with tricking it out, custom made components made to suit your needs, and someone who will help you in the future a "super-expensive" TIE fighter...so be it.

I'm not playing a shipwright to rip people off or make a ton of credtis overnight. I'm also a Droid Engineer, and have been since the game went live. If you want to know about crafting for the love of it without making a ton of credits for well over a year, I can tell you about it.

/emote is finished with his little rant.

500k is an overpricing? I'd like you to go out and buy all the resources needed for that ship...have it made...and tell me how much you spent on those resources. If it were on sunrunner i guaruntee you will spend over a mil for top quality. So until you actually KNOW what you are talking about...don't get pissed. If i were to charge my chassis for the cpu that armorsmiths and weaponsmiths charge for their products...you would wet yourself.

Go get some good loot, sell it, and buy stuff. If your too lazy to do that then go away and have a nice day.

Seems to be quite a few of these kinda posts atm, with pilots blaming SW for high prices and SW blaming miners for high prices....

Seems to me the real culprit is SOE, it was theirdecision to make the amount of resources required to build the chassisat the level they currently are. Of course these should take a lot of resources to make, but maybe it would have been better to drop these to a somewhat lower figure.

There are a lot of SWs who would make you a chassis if you provide them the resources. Just ask around. My main is a SW and anyone who comes to me with all of the resources to build a ship gets a "free" ship. After all, why would I charge a fee just to click a couple buttons?

If you come to me and expect me to make the financial investment (i.e. providing the resources) then you should expect to pay what I'm charging. It really is that simple.
