Flame me if you feel Im way off base...
I've posted a few times about this and every time I do I get more and more passionate about it coming to lilfe.
Change the steel requirements to "ferrous metal" or better yet "metal" for paint, texture and repiar kits.
Why is steel needed for those? Why couldn't it be "ferrous metal?" I mean, I mave a bunch of iron that would work just fine. Any metal would be even better. Im sure we all have stacks of crap metal we've pulled at some point that is just collecting dust. Some SWG resources are all but useless...I mean, what does JKelsh copper used for? I havent done all the crafting profs but I havent seen a specific use for it. It would be perfect for stuff like those (not repair) that don't have any quality requirements.
I'm I crazy or does this sound like an ok idea?

I would like to see a basic "Metal" needed for paint kits.
I think us poor shipwrights have enough drain on our steel supply.

Crusaders,
Your answer confuses me. Changing the requirement to metal or ferrous metal would not make things any more difficult for you. You could still carry on using steel if that is what you wanted to do.
BTW, add my vote to a change in resource requirements.

You've got my vote, anything to relieve the drain on my shrinking steel supply. Requiring steel is particularly inane, since the kits don't take the stats of the ingredients into account.

I don't really mind - I end up with a lot of 1 or 2k stacks of steel after running off some chassis, and those are ideal to run off a load of the smaller components with ....

First off, you have to know who crusaders is to understand his POV. The man wants for NOTHING. He's probably one of the top 3 dominant players on my server so nothing is out of his reach. It truely is a matter of convience for him. Now as to the 2-3k stacks of steel. I can understand that but I do runs of 100-300 paint kits at a time and its 12.5k of steel per 100 paint kits. Volume is where it gets ugly.
