Hi all.

i've been a shipwright for about two weeks now and i'm nearly 3000. just a quick question on pricing. what are people charging for each level of ship (from novice - master) and are you going to drop your prices now the solo-nerf has happened? i currently get all my resources myself which is one of the reasons its taking me some time to level. I'm playing on Chimaera so i would love to hear from shipwrights on that server if possible.

First question.. what do you mean with solo-nerf? What got nerfed?

And to answer your question.. This question about the prizing was asked.. about 100 times?
Use the search function and you will get your answer quickly. But to take you off that burdon, most SW charge around 5CPU +/-.

cheers

sorry my bad, typing faster then thinking. the solo-group nerf. i've been told by load of people that as of last night the solo-group cash nerf is now in effect. so no-longer will the combat profs beable to get a buff and solo janta/mokk or enraged rancor missions and get all the cash. Taking Enraged Rancors missions for example say your in a solo group of 6 people and then do the mission yourself you will not only get 6k or if your in a group of 20 your'd get 1.8k.

As to current pricing i'm only charging 3CPU for my ships, as i'm only learning my trade at the moment. so i'm not charging more (even though i am using HQ resources)

I don't feel that the solo nerf should have much bearing on prices as anyone buying ships can take duty missions and make crazy cash selling the looted parts. Even a tier one pilot can make 70-90k per duty mission which should take about 1/2 hour - 45 mins depending on skill/ship/loadout. You make more money per level from there as you tend to get better loot parts. At 2/2/2/2, I can make in the realm of 150-200k per hour in space. So a couple hours play time to afford higher level ships? I think that is fair.

quick question Angamar where are you flying to get that amount. i'm mainly flying around Lok and Yavin but i've not made that much in an hour (maybe 2 or 3 hours). So guess your not going to lower your ship prices

I can do the 70-90 at Tattoine using the tier 1 pirate hunting duty mission. You have to sell all the components you get though. I tend to get 50-70k for components and about 20k in a transfer disk. I've gotten the 150-200 doing the duty missions for tier 2 from Yavin, though I can;t get them at the moment as I need to beat the tier 3 missions. The guy won't offer me duty missions anymore.

If you are a decent pilot, and you have a ship appropriate for what you are fighting, its not hard to do. Right now I can do the tier 1 duty missions for 70-90k in about a half hour since they die so fast due to having lower equipment than I do. Do two of these in an hour and you are making pretty good money from the chassis vendor. More if you have someone who pays more than 1k per component level. Its boring, but if you are strapped for cash, that's the way to go.

As for lowering prices, I already sell at 3 CPU on chassis, how much lower can I go?

You charge 3cpu for your wears/ Man I wish that you were on my server becuase I would buy ever resource that you had for 5 cpu. And I would still make a profit.

What gets me is why do people belittle them selves so much. This is the same thing that happened to Architect way back when. To many people undercutting and now an architect is lucky to sell his goods at more then 5cpu. Why do I seem a little displeased about this. Well chefs avg about 40 cpu for brandy and that is a fair price. Weaponsmiths often sell at more than 200 cpu. Not there is not any resource on any server that I know of that has ever gone about 135 cpu. Agv is 5cpu. But I see all these new guys belittling there own profession. Just boggles the mind to be honest.

I see chassis at 7 cpu. That is a flat fee across the bd

Missiles I sell on a curve singles are say 15 5 packs at 12 and crates of 25 at 10 cpu.

Components I charge around 20 cpu. And that is on final assy respurces that does not include the upgrade part that I always put in them.

I see some peeps selling master lvl ships at 2 cpu. I ask why would you even bother to do that for such a little amount of money. Take some pride in your profession. If we have to coompete for say a certain steel that is up for auction and the armorsmith guy wants it and we want it. Guess who is going to have the cash for it.....Not the guy selling his wears at 2cpu bit the guy armor guy who usually sells his wears at 2000 cpu/ Yes I said 2000 cpu..

I sell at 3 CPU as well and I do ok. That being said, I'm still grinding XP and having to pay may way through it. To that end, I have a contract with a master SW who buys my chassis at 3CPU and then resells them. I get a steady income which allows me to continue grinding.

Now, when the time comes, I will set my pricing for chassis at 3-4 cpu as a starting point. If they start selling quickly, I'll raise my price, if not, I will leave it as is. Components I will sell for much more though. Same with missles, countermeasures, etc. People will be more willing to pay for quality components than they will for a ship being as you can get a ship made with garbage that are only slightly less than the ones made with good resources. I'll be happy to custom make ships with high quality resources, but the price will be much higher and negotiated ahead of time.

I don't see 3 CPU as undercutting. I see it as the going price for the work of an apprentice making horse shoes as opposed to a master making quality weapons.

Not to sound as if I'm flaming you but,

The "group solo-nerf" does notaffect the costs shipwrights incurto buildchassisorcomponents, so why would you think it would have any bearing on our prices?

I price my products based on what it costs me to make them, not on how much my customers have to spend. I harvest or contract out harvesting of resources I need so I can keep my costs down, this way I can keep my sale prices at or under 5 CPU and still make a fair profit.

Look at it this way;

In the real world would you walk into a car dealership and expect them to price their cars on what cash you have in your pocket/bank account?

If so please let me know when you find one that does this kind of pricing because I could use a new car!

I sell all chassis at 5cpu and I sell a ton. The reason I sell at that price is because I value my time. If I have to sit for hours crafting, I'm going to make sure the customers pay for it. I feel the3cpu or lower price is basically selling a ship at the market price of the resources you are using for it.

Not when the drop rate for parts has seemingly been reduced.
I can do the first two circuits of a teir 4 duty mission, and maybe loot 1 or 2 parts.
