Hi all
The data on TC is rather buggy at the moment so this may be subject to serious change, I'll update tomorrow sometime when I've been able to evaluate all the components.
Starter ships obtained from the trainers are now fully upgradeable with free hyperdrives.
They have a reactor with 8k power and 11k mass. The components in them are rather unbalanced and will I'm sure change (armour has energy drain of 1.2k but has 250hp).
However the question is what will this do to the economy. Probably not much to the MSW's as the view I've been told is that there aren't enough live sellers of Tier0 ships out there, hence this change. (For avoidance of doubt Tier 0 = Syck, TIE Light, Z-95, Tier 1 = Y-wing, TIE Fighter, Dunelizard)
However to all new shipwrights you are now going to need to spend 80k resources before you can sell any chassis (that's enough to have ground up to start making ubese armour). Given the current stats there is no benefit to buying a player crafted ship - the extra 1k mass (probably nearer 700 for a pure novice) isn't going to affect most players as a pilot is going to need to upgrade to a tier 1 ship before he runs out of space (oh, the current ships have 500 spare mass but the components are heavy - each weighs 1.5k)
Now what do I need from you:
Can you please post here if you do on live sell tier 0 ships (preferably with a price and details of sales in the last week or so)?
This will enable us to show the devs there is a market out there for these ships. If we can show there is a market then we show they are removing that market and they may well not implement the change and Tier 0 market will continue. The current situation allows new shipwrights to have a product as soon as they get novice and this change, in my humble opinion, destroys that chance.
Any other comments welcome.

I am a 4/2/2/3 shipwright on Chilastra, and I sell Tier 0 ships. Most of those on my vendor were built during my quest for master, and very few have sold. However, I and several of my guild mates used Tier 0 ships that I built loaded with looted and RE'd components while working on our novice and Tier 1 missions. They are also great for getting from planet-to-planet using the instant-travel option, and you can do surprisingly well with them (I used my Scyk until I hit 2/1/1/1 Privateer and switched to a Kihraxz) in most situations with decent looted or crafted parts.

When I was grinding, the Tier 0 ships I made were all sold within an hour (that was launch day).
I now have fully-experimented Tier 0 ships on my vendor. As far as I remember, they sold slowly for the first couple of weeks (2 or 3 a week, perhaps) but I haven't sold any in the last 2 weeks. I also stock Mark I versions of all components. They don't sell either.
It's actually quite surprising - a new imperial pilot could actually get a craft with shields if they bought a crafted TIE Light Duty and kitted it out.

I actually sell Teir 0 ships on a pretty regular basis and I sell them for 50k.
But to be honest I don't see the point. If you need to jump to another system just use the travel option. Most tier 0 ships that you get issued are already good enough to handle the missions. I am a master SW and even when I did freelance pilot on my SW toon I didn't make myself a ship, thought it was a waist of resources. I used my freebie ship and got to the next lvl ships with no problem.

yea i have gotten the same response. i am a SW 4-2-4-2 and i have been selling tier 0 ships since launch day. it was strong in the beginning, making a mil per hour, but it has slown to a trickle if not at all on the tier 0 ships. i still make them on my way to master, but now i just use practice since there is no demand for them

I have to concur with this gentleman as I was and still am in the same situation. I am a master shipwright, I advertise on boards in sig, as well as in game. I have some on my kauri vendors and nothing has moved in weeks. I also special order ships as do all shipwrights but I simply quit making b/c the demand is not enough to require the supply!
Tier 1's on the other hand have also slowed down since most pilots that are in game are grinidng pilot away and far above a dunelizard or other tier 1 ship!

I make tier 0 ships and sell them fairly often. I'm on the radiant server and sell them for around 10k
About making the free ships customizable.. i dont think thats a good idea..
What i wish the devs would do is make the chassie have a mod section (like all the parts) so we could add mods for mass. That way scyk's could be usuable after someone learns basic pilot. (12k ham just doesn't give much life) Then cert the mod lvls like you have droid interfaces so if you got a scyk at novice u can't use any mods but at basic fighter (1/0/0/0) you could add the lvl 1 mod (10k more mass) If you did this for every lvl with 10k mass upgrades a lvl i dont think it would overbalance ships but maybe 5k a lvl for 6 lvls is better.
I'm sick of only selling dunes and kimo's for the most part thats really all i sell to freelancers after they get novice.
anyhow thats my 2cents sorry to degress

I'd sell maybe one or two a day when I first made master, but the past week or so has seen a big drop off in new JtL players with most on the galaxy using tier 2 or above ships, so sales have fallen accordingly.

i carry a full line of novice ships and mark I components.
Sales are slow i'd say for them, but they are stocked. It really doesn't take much to keep these in stock, make them once and you've got stock for quite a while due to slow sales, but they are there and available for poeple who want them.

MSW who has a few tier 0 ships on his vendor. I believe one or two at most have sold in the last couple of weeks. My price for the chassis blueprints for novice ships is 15k.
From my point of view, they are not hurting me by making this change and they are helping in the long run by making it easier for people to participate in JtL. Especially as some missions require early on for the capability to utilize hyperspace--something difficult in the original starter ship, and costly in many instances as some SWs have and still do charge a premium, this is a beneficial change overall.
The primary negative is of course for nonmaster SWs. A totally solo new player who wants to be a shipwright is going to have a tough time if they're going up the tree slowly based on their own resources and time. However, I don't think those people were selling anymore starter chassis than I was, so maybe it doesn't matter and this change should go through to the betterment of us all.

I've got 3233 shipwright, and I haven't sold any novice ships for a week or so. I'd been selling them for 15000.

I sold all of my novice grinding ships for 6k each on the bazaar. All of them sold to different folks. I currently keep one of each type of novice ship on my vendor for 15k, which is a pretty cheap price per unit. They don't sell alot, but one goes every so often.

I also sell Tier 0 ship chassis blueprint. Many pilots are often using those ships for easy travelling between the planets and you can't do this with a trainer start ship.
I sell them for 20k each. But I stopped crafting them, because most of them time I sell ships between Tier1 and Tier4.
cheers
