First off,

I have been a crafter since launch. I have played, crafted and been in the market,.,, Aritsan, architect, armorer, chef, Bio.. I have Supplied galaxies with tons of gear since this game went live. Crating has been lost of fun,, but Shipwright is a total joke. Having been a miner/crafter i have been saving stuff since launch.. I still have resources that non have ben better since the day the game went live. As a crafter with the best stuff since launch i still cant touch what i can collect in a few hours of looting in space.

I made a character on a new server, started with the crap CDEF ship they give you and guess what.. in just a few hours i had better than any craftable ship part. I was using a crap non upgradable ship that cost 100 credits to repair if i got toasted,, and i could loot with it better than i could craft.

To top off this insult even using 975+ resources the difference between that and total crap was barely even 1k mass. YOu cant even come close to crafting something thats better than a loot part, let alone a good Re'd part.

I left Bio with the toon i desided to give this JOKE class a try,, I used 7 million units that i could have sold for .1 cpu and made more money and had more fun.. I just let 200 ships drop on my vender and refuse to repost or give away,,, Its not about money,, thats not why i craft.. but when i can take a stock ship and loot for an hour and beat anything that a true crafter can make with top of the line resources,, I dont know what or why the devs did this,,, but im sorry i even gave this crafting class a try

Its too bad too cuase it could have been lots of fun

i agree... i love shipwright though.... but the fact that resource quality doesnt have much baring on the result is disappointing... the best part of shipwright is the crafting diversity... if all other craft professions allowed a similar formula of assembling i think the other craft proffessions would be more fulfilling play-wise.. and making resources and and loot in par for shipwright might make shipwright more fun too

At lower levels, yes. Looted components are sometimes (mostly) better. As you progress, you start making stuff that is much more useful.

The Mark IV equipment I am able to make is a lot better then looted stuff, plus I have more control over the final stats. I'm not a Master, but I have replaced most of my equipment with crafted stuff, and as I progress, I will be replacing the rest.

SW isn't so bad. It's costly...but it isn't bad.

I feel your pain, but there are also good points to the crafting setup. Someone working their way up SW can actually sell there wares, unlike any other crafting profession in swg. I have always hated the fact that in the other crafting professions you have to waste hundereds, if not thousands of parts to get to a point where you can actually sell something, it is just stupid. My biggest complaint is the fact that our customers are our worst competion. WhenI see used TIE ln's on the bazzar for 6K...well you get the picture. I do not have a problem with the looted parts, yes some of them are way better than what we can craft, but we can RE them and make them even better. We just need to get people to stop using them un-RE'd. If we can get word out that we can add power to the super light reactor they have, or remove weight from a high output reactor then we can do more RE business. So far I sell far more RE parts than ships, but overall the ships make more money, it takes a lot of level 2 and 3 RE parts to equal a ship sale!

I also dont like the minimal influence resource quality has on results

With very limited factory support, and fact Im not only a full time shipwright, Im unable to be a shipwright stocking wide choice of ships and components. Therefore, having a very good resource base of almost any type and with top notch quality, I decided to focus my business on high end ships and items.

Too bad, this model aint really good, as I manage to get my stuff minimally better then shipwrights working on average resources, and noone wants to pay more enough to justify using old, very expensive resources to get that 1k mass more... having chassis at 10 cpu, Im being considered rather expensive

It's most annoying. You can't grab the niche of making few superb items.

On the other hand, it's understanding. Look at how Armors turned out.

God mode suits.

I don't disagree with your opinion concerning this profession. I am feeling much the same way. Furthermore, I don't feel like the devs are listening to our concerns, because if they were, this new starter ship change wouldn't have never been released to live.

However, I am in this for the long haul. I do enjoy the profession, despite the fact that the devs are trying to kill it.

Close to 300M in components sales would seem to indicate your opinion is wrong. But i'd agree particularly boosters and capacitors are very slow in sales

I'm a master pilot, first off, lemme say you must not be making the right stuff.

I own a YT, a Ryhk, and a Firespray.

The reactors in all my ships are player crafted.

Armor plates (with the exception of the FS's front panel) are all player crafted.

Sheilds on the YT and FS are player crafted.

Both weapons on the YT, 2 on the Rhyk, one on the FS (depending on the mass allowed by my missle load out)

The engine in the YT is player crafted.

Including missle launchers/CMs all told I'm prolly looking at around 60% of my equipment being crafted, not to mention missle packs and CM packs.

What does that mean? Well, lemme point out the glaring problem here. Mass. Alot of people are uncomfortable in a heavy ship, enough so to the

point that most of the newbies I run into on the Rebel side are planning on keeping their Z active untill they get their X-wings. What else contributes here?

Well, about 30% of the pilots have no clue what to do with their equipment, another 30% will work with what fits because they don't have the credits or the

time to shop around.

There comes a time in every mans life when 86 years is just too damn long...

Most high level stuff is better when player crafted, it is level I-IV where crafters get hosed.

Jjudging by the comments he doesnt want to stick it out. Seem slike yet another sw who thought it would be an easy ride, get a few mil o fthe best resource, make enough schems to last themfor a year or 2 and then trrow it all into a factory.

Sorry pal, its not that kind of crafting profession.

Its all about preperation, customer relations and understanding what the customer needs.

Its not about making 80/80/80 67 base composite, not worring about the ham due to buffs and watching the sales flood in.

Personally I think its a great profession. After 1 mad crafting week I manage to keep over 800 items on my vendor (just talkingcomponents here) of all kinds of stats etc. Sub components are all crafted 2 weeks in advance of requirement and resources for different types of components are all in seperate bags. I work away from home 4 days a week and this is still all possible.

I get home, check whats been sold and replace it. To make up a crate of 25 engines takes all of 10 mins with 4 crafting tools.

Except I have seen no shields, armor and very few weapons, boosters, engines and reactors that can compete with what I can make as a master SW, and I don't have the best resources ever, I have good stuff. As it stands most capacitors and droid interfaces are far better crafted than looted (expecially the original DI). But when it come to everything else... I can make better suff. Wepoans damage is far lower and the energy per shot is far higher on looted, shields and armor have about half what I can craft with the same weight, reactors looted weight more and have slightly less generation rating, and engines.... well those about about 50/50.... I've seen alot better and I've seen alot worse.
