Hey guys and gals. I just got a quick question for ya.
I mastered Shipwright shortly after JTL release, but I haven't made many things since. SW rapidly became a full time job and was no fun at all. Do any of you feel that way? It just takes too long to make a fully loaded ship....and I was just supplying for a dozen or so people. True enough, I've made money doing it, but it just feels like so much work and not so much fun. Do any of you agree?

Well...I've never considered weaponsmith a job, it's fun...although I try not to get into the high volume business.....just small sales and special orders. With SW, I spend so much time getting resources, then they get used up so fast. I can spend 15-20 minutes making stuff for a single customer and the resources just vanish. It's a neverending cycle. With Weaponsmith, resources last a long time cause you aren't dumping in 1000's of units all at once. I guess I'm just a lazy crafter

I've enjoyed the interaction with people a lot! Most of my sales are in person custom orders. I keep my vendor stocked pretty well, but since I setup shop on dantooine, I never get TOO busy. When things get slow I just head out into space or go collect resources. I love this so much more than mind numbing hack and slash.

Yes, I can imagine a shipwright being very busy having to supplya sizeable customer base with items. I pretty much craft for myselfand my other 3 accounts and maybe 1 or2 otherfriends so I really don't get burned out on crafting at all. The way I figure it,if SWG becomes my second full time "job" than whats the point in playing?

All the crafting professions are a "job". I like to think of it as a simulation in running a business. In addition, it's a good source of income.

True that al crafting profs are jobs, but with weaponsmith (Other than grenades) you can craft the weapon pretty quick and get on with life. SW just seems to drag.

Grenades are 100% factory made most of the time.
I have spent quite a bit of time filling custom orders as a weaponsmith and it does get to seem like work after a while. I do factory runs of all the common low end stuff, but Imake all the heavy and limited use items by hand. I even do special runs of weapons with visible scopes and stocks. These have to be made by hand or the stocks and scopes don't show up on crafted weapon.
If you run your crafting profession as a business then at some point it will seem like work. After all it IS work. When it seems like more work than playyou should probably find something else to do in thegame. I like killing thing on the ground and in space.

The sw business is booming at the moment for me all my low end rubbish goes on the bazaar and all my high end stuff goes into my mall and I'm making a killing.
