Not worth it IMO - this is the realm of the crafted. I RE 3's for chance at FS disk and, they may still be practical for low mass fighters. Im not saying every and all odd numbered loots are pants........but they are!

Odd level weapons are... different. Even level weapons tend to have damage ranges about equal to the next level up odd part, with better vs shields and vs armor, however speed is generally .4 or higher, with a few "above average" guns being in the .39 range. Odd level guns generally have lower vs shields and vs armor, generally in the .45-.55 range, tho occasionally you get one up to .6 to one (and generally .39-.4 of the other) so you can RE a good vs shield and vs armor, however odd level guns generally have much lower speeds, ranging from .32-.35, tho some get as high as .43. Also weapons generally have higher mass than thier crafted counterparts. A good crafted L9 gun will generally have around 36k mass, a good RE'd L9 will be lucky to get down that low, and will likely have 38-39k mass. Most L9 guns have masses in the range of 45-50k.

Odd level engines, caps, boosters, and for the most part shields, armor, reactors, and DI's, are generally worse, or not much better (not worth the mass anyway) than thier even numbered counterpart one level down.

I agree weapons are worth holding onto due to the range of stats u can play (RE) with ie. min, max, Armour/shield effectiveness, mass etc. However I would recommend turning the vast majority of odd level loots over to the chassis dealer - makes organising much simpler and time efficient. If the RE process was determined by numbr of loots used rather than RE event then I would revise this, but as things stand currently it seems wasteful to RE 5, 7 or 9 loots when the opportunity cost is so high and process is relatively time consuming.

one place 9's are worth re'ing is guns.. The sickest guns Ive yet seen are 9's.. max damage 5125 is the best non re'd ive seen yet.. thats with a 0.635 to shield and armor... 49k mass though... I have another 9 thats 29k mass.. but sucky stats... I need two more 9's to get it all re'd... It potentially could be a very sick weapon... oh.. the 5125 is a 0.333 refire, 18 energy per shot.

That L9 you have name should glow yellow and have (Legendary) after it, that is like 1500 higher than the next best gun I've seen, and nowhere typical.

The highest damage I have seen on a weapon is 4400 on a L10. I have near 60 million prestige as well. If you got a 5000+ damage L9, count yourself very lucky.

Exactly what he said.

Oh I don't disagree at all, I'm just doubting the claim of a L9 over 5k dmg.

I have an L6 weapon with 1595.4-2680.2 non-REed. Before acquiring it, my max was 1369.5-2009.4. A pretty nice bump, IMO.

The point?

It seems there are freakishly out-of-spec weapons possible with any level.

I should clarify...

I didn't say it was out-and-out impossible, just that it was highly suspicious. :}

L9s are the faster-firing lighter versions of L10s. The fastest refire I've seen on a looted L10 is .395. I've also found that the different steps accomodate each other nicely speedwise (it's good to pair low .3xx weapons with low .4xx weapons to keep from draining a cap too fast).

L7s pair nicely with L6s, L6s with L5s, L10s with L9s (at least on super-heavy fighters), and so on, and so on. Even-numbered weapons tend to be REable into high effectiveness at the cost of speed, whilst odd-numbered weapons tend to be high speed but have lower damage.

As others have said - you're hard-pressed to break .700 effectiveness on odd-level weapons, but they fire faster than any player-made weapon and typically can be REed to much higher damages.

You tell me if a player-made L9 can compare with the following:

646.6 armor/hp
2037.1 reactor drain
34469.7 mass
2329.7-3752.0
.667VS/.629VA eff
22.6 eps
.301 refire

The mass might be a tad high, but the weapon itself fulfills the damage of TWO playermade weapons, having the effectiveness of a disruptor and ion cannon all in one.
