Thread: ShipWright Grinding Experience sucks

I decided to dabble in ShipWright and found myself grinding away and away, and so far have only a little above 1,000 exp to show for it. No matter what I grind, I am constantly getting anywhere from 20-45 exp per grind....and when it takes 20,000 to master one of the most basic skills, well..... you do the math.

What do I need to grind to obtain max exp?

About 6M units of resources. If you want an exact breakdown, check out the stickies.

chassis. biggest ones you can. if you have the resources stockpiled, the 'grind' would take about 10-15 minutes, if you click slow.

The best thing to do is buy all the resources, make the ships and sell them for a profit. That way the resources dont go to waste.

Your're probably not going to make much of a profit if your buy the resources to bring Master Shipwright. In fact, you probably will still end up losing money.

If you go up the ship chassis branch first, and grind nothing but the biggest ships you can all the way through, you will need 5.948M units of resources (2.382M units of steel, 1.226M units of low-grade ore, 607K units of aluminum, 607K units of inert petro, 563K of iron and 563K units of fiberplast). Assuming 2 CPU, you're looking at a nearly 12M credit investment.

I agree totaly, but u r better off making the ships and not just grinding, at least u get some of the 12mil back, not all but some.

True.

However, a patient person is going to put up some heavy harvesters and start pulling up a bulk of what they need. At the very least they should try to pull up the steel and ore they need for this, as I have yet to encounter a resource vendor willing to let these resources (of any quality) go for cheap. Furthermore, I recommend that they find JTL resources, such as Crystallized Bicorbantium Steel, Hardened Arveshium Steel, and Fermionic Silicastic Ore, as it seems you can always find a +90% concentration and theyalways seem to stick aroundfor14-21 days. This minimizes the hassle of redeploying harvesters and the cost of redeeding them. I have easily pulled up 2M units of these resourcesdropping 8 harvesters over a 10-14 day cycles. This would go a long way toward mitigating the player's expenses. In addition, their investment in the heavy harvesters is one they will have to make at some point anyways, because a shipwright just cannot survive without harvesting their own resources.

Don t even think to grind SW without harvesting your ressources!

You have to be patient, to travel galaxy to put your stuffs, and let them working.

Starting SW is very disapointing. Improve chassis skills, and craft the heaviest ships you can. Once you are 2000, you feel better. Each time you craft for a while, you gain a lvl.

Then, you go back surveying....

SW newbies :You need cash to pay your harvesters, and you need time

Opinion above applies only if you are not part of a guild who give you millions ressources...

If you have all the stuff, you wil be SW in 20 minutes. But will you be proud of your title?

If you don't have the resources i've found that C.A.T.'s give our the most xp per resource used.

Mind you if you do that you'll end up with a bad case of carpal tunnel or wrists bigger then your ankles...

I was lucky when I started (since I didn't have near the resources required) and was able to nab most my steel bulk at 1cpu. Otherwise I'da ran out of cash. I've made back my initial investment, then spent it on more good stock. Then made it back again, then spent it on more stock (though now I have lots of stock)....heh...nasty vicious cycle.
