Remember, in the real world, the president of Toyota does not build each car himself.

Alternatively, you could focus on one area of shipwright.

Our whole profession is screwy like that. Like they did a crafting update during JTL but only included Shipwright. I don't see any other profession with an experience requirement for the mastery box.
Anyway, I'd like us to be able to have those nifty aprons too.
CH requires 1mil xp for Master now, and word in the past has all professions slated to need xp for Master, eventually.
Theyhave beenphasing the Apprentice Point system out of the game.
Yeah, I know I'm whining here... just let me whine. LOL
Adding these skill tapes is an incredibly idiotic move. But it doesn't surprise me since the SWG community asa whole means jack-squat to SOE. It kills me to see these being added. In not having these tapes, our profession is probably the only one where our communication and crafting skills, and good resources really matter the most. It was an even playing field in that aspect. The only way to make this work is if the tapes drop more often. I'm also a weaponsmith... getting those exp tapes is near impossible unless you are rich or buy credits off ebay (which I refuse to do). I know of many WS who are already 12-point but continue to purchase weap exp. tapes anyway just to keep down the competition.
As far as comparing a shipwright to the CEO of Toyota... True - to a degree. What you forget is even though he doesn't make the car, the people who do essentially make his paycheck possible. So, in essence, without all of the subdivisions of his company working together, he isn't making any money. As a private shipwright (which I'm guessing most of us are) I'm the CEOAND the labor force.
Now, I am all for it if you want to specialize... that's great! But I would rather not be *forced* to (they seem to be forcing a lot on the player base as of late.. hmm... has anybody named Palpatine started working at SOE recently?) Yes, forced is the correct term here... even though (pre-CFU at least) a 12-point WS can't add more dmg to a weapon 98% of the time, people are under the assumption they can.. because "Ooooo they are a 12-point WS!". So, in order for me to compete with these guys I'm forced into buying outrageously priced CA's. Perhaps a better solution to CA's is extra skills... something like skill sub-boxes. This would allow you to specialize by choice.
Blah blah blah I know, I'm done.
