Thread: Factory Petition

I dont mean to be a pester, but this has been bothering me for quite some time...

I think that, due to every other single crafting profession has factory support...I think we should have almost full factory support...

Like Architect, Armorsmith, Weaponsmith, Doctor, Medic, DE, TailorAnd basically anything else that requires a crafted item.

I think that the Shipwright profession should have the ability to have many objects and schematics produced by the factory, maybe even a new factory like a SHIPYARD factory, which is huge but can craft entire ships at once or something of that caliber is a very cool concept...

I thankyou very much for reading!

Limited factory support is what makes being a Shipwright UNIQUE!

I agree with doo-boo. Lets keep the shipwrights out of factories. I think it was a calculated decision to do it that way and a correct one. The more I play my shipwright the more I think so. Besides, once the novelty wears off there'll be no need for factory made ships. There won't be an unlimted and constant amount of new people coming into JTL for the first time rushing out to buy all your tier 1-4 chassis. Some of the stuff that WILL sell a lot of and constant supply already can be made in a factory.

The future of shipwright will be custom made components depending on the mass requirements, number of weapons slots, etc. Something that will be difficult to do in factories unless you specialize.

Though I would support a new factory type for the things we can now make in them. Some kind of a missle silo looking thing would be cool.

I've settled down from my early position of rampant anti-factoryism, but I still don't see it as wise for the economy or necessary for us. It would be convenient, but I'm one of the biggest shipwrights on my server and I really don't spend that much time restocking. I also don't consider it a justification to give us further factory support just because other crafting professions have it; we're not competing with them, we're competing with each other. And one of the things that can set one shipwright apart from his fellows is how well he stocks his shop. Combine this unique way of making a living with the numerous ways limited factory support is good for the economy, and I really don't see a need for anything more.

I agree that Factory support will be a good thing for the profession, in a limited capacity. Ship Chassis should not be given factory suport, but compoennts being given factory runs of 10 or 20 would be a huge help.

All it would lead to is an oversaturation of components. And remove the only way to tell the difference between a shipwright and a good Shipwright. Whether or not you keep your store stocked is one of the primary differences between shipwrights. With the ability to run off 80 blasters per day (8 factory slots * 10 blasters made over a 24 hour period), that difference is lost.

If you can't keep your store stocked, I'd suggestion finding an alternative solution. Factory support will only lead to the same thing found in the architect profession: dozens of vendors with dozens of components gathering dust with nobody really capable of making themselves standout from the dozens.

Factory's should only be for components.

Thats my view for ALL professions.

Keep SW how it is.

yup yup on both things. i hope the crafting profession revamps reduce the factory support too. no more generic only items where what you see is what you get unless your willing to pay an extra 1000% above the standard factory production.

SW is fun because the lack of support. to much factories ruins the fun for way to many and reduces the real need for crafters.

Well I know how you guys feel, I think that your right for the most part...

Atleast components should be able to be factory produced, that I could live with and that I would like rather than having everything factory craftable

So yes it would be cool, but I understand that it basically would be the same as almost any other crafting profession

afaik most smaller parts can be factory created.

I've used factory's for Spraypaint and texture kits as well as a run of missiles/chaff.

I haven't tried upgrades yet though.

The only components that should be factory made are currently allowed to be factory made. This is the defining aspect of thsi profession. Just remember, if full factory support becomes a reality, there will only be a need for a handful of shipwrights, as thereare now only a handful of profitable Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths.
