What prices do you guys put on Red stuff? Crafted components? Chassis?

I have never done a crafting/merchant prof before and have no idea what i am doing. Any help would really be appreciated.

All of this depends really...

Check out some other shipwrights and see what they are selling their goods for...and undercut them muhahahha.

The general rule is, unless it is an item that is tres uber, is the price Levels 1-10 by about 1k-10k alevel. It all depends really. And that is mostly for REed parts, anyway. But, some price their crafted goods this way, too.

For chassis, most charge by the amount of resources used in making the ship, like 2cpu, generally.

Pricing this way seems far to me, and if anything, you might make enough to run your harvesters.

Small tip - the items that take few resources, like kits, you can charge more per resource, since people are ok plopping 2k for an paint kit for example.

2cpu for chassis? SO like if a ship uses 1000 units of steel and 1000 units of aluminium charge 4k?

Makes sense i guess.

For RE'd parts i was thinking somethign like the level x the number of pieces

so a level 2 RE part (level 2 x 2 pieces = 4k) unless the piece is uber.

The best way to do pricing on anything is to do a vendor search and look up what it is you wish to sell. Make a note of all the price ranges - stats that go with the prices etc. and then figure your prices based on that... Every server is different - so it's hard to price things out from one server to the next. This is what I do and I go back every once and a while and recheck things to see if it's changed any.

I dunno, personally I don't even bother much with what my competitors are charging. Actually I don't bother with it at all. I figure if I sell most things around 5 cpu (chassis for a bit less) then I'm making a good profit, especially as I'm mining nearly all my own resources. Pilots are looking for good quality parts and a well-stocked store where they can always find what they're looking for, and a 1-2 cpu difference isn't going to turn them elsewhere.

You also must consider the amount of time you put in. Traveling, harvesting, craftng, cloning and cleaning! Yes having so many resources around is quite messy.

For Chassis I just buy my resources at 1-2cpu and sell the blueprints at cost or 3cpu. For parts I stay around 5-7cpu depending on the materials I am using. Or I make trades, crafted parts for looted parts. I started with a small amount of resources, a few harvesters and 200k. After about a month I gathered all the resources I needed. My chassis started to sell slowly and that helped pay for my harvesters. Now I am sitting at about 4 million and make 200-400k a day in sales. Mostly custom work and orders. I find it best to meet a pilot early in their profession. They keep coming back to buy things. Some are even nice enough to drop space loot off on you. I am still waiting to reverse the 6/8 Kuat Disk. Then its time to sell some FireSprays! YAY!

this is dependent on server and location too.... are you setting up a shop in someplayer city somewhere or ourside a major npc city? On my server we have a large monopoly of businesses outside of coronet and crafters there are so used to people shopping there that they can actually get away with charging upwards of 10 cpu on crafted components in some cases. As for me I have my shop in my player city and so I expect to be fairer to those people since they are regulars. I do 3cpu on chassis and 4cpu on components, I dont get into selling REd parts mostly... I keep the good ones for guild use.

I've been doing 4cpu for ships, and 5 cpu for components. My SW is an alt, and I'm not too good at keeping a good stock of crafted parts, but what i have seems to sell pretty well. I have a decent location outside bestine, so I sell a good number of Imperial chassis. For my RE parts I do 1000 times the level times the number of parts, plus one extra part for my profit. I buy RE-able parts for the same as the dealer does, so I need to make something on them =) It works out real good when I collect my own parts to RE, and is acceptable when I buy parts. As an example, a level 5 part would be 1000 x 5 = 5000, 5000 x 5 = 25000, 25000+ 5000 = 30000 people seem to grab them up at these prices, even if they are not super uber RE jobs, but I always try to do the best I can =)

I've been thinking about dropping my ships to 3 cpu, there are a good number of people selling for 1.5-2 cpu on my server, so that is hurting my sales. I think it is really a shame that when it comes to chassis, it is better to take your resources and sell them, you can make far more than you can with completed chassis

It also depends on what kind of Shipwright you plan to be. Personally, I have never cared to be nor bothered to be a low-cost Shipwright. i don't like chasing harvies around, and as possibly the oldest MSW on Kett, I'm not to thrilled about anything that isn't quality. Therefore, I tend to buy High-quality resources in bulk at reasonable rates, and my prices reflect that. I do les business but make more per sale.. And my customers are fine with that when everything they get is experimented about as high as it'll go and tailored for their needs.

On the other hand, some people sell cheap and make up on volume. It's just never been my thing, especially since I'm a busy person iRL.

I can't seem to keep enough parts in stock!

My greatest joy is logging on and seeing 20 to 30 emails saying: Instant Sale Complete:

I try to charge by the Tier level more so than resource cpu. Although that is a great foundation, but then you have a experiment a little gradually with price increases. Not to be greedy, but to make more than just enough to keep my harvestors going and repairs on my swoop to get them.

For example: (this is for allexcept Chassis,Engines and Capacitors)

Tier 1 - 8k or less. For some reaon people love to see numbers with 500 in it. I sell a butt load using 7500, or 6500. you basically just made 7cpu on some or most Tier 1 components.

Tier 2 - 10k to 12k

Tier 3 - 14 to 17k

Tier 4 - 20k to 30k

As Pilotsstart to qualifyfor new levels of equipment. One of the first things they realize of valueis:

Chassis - more space, more firepower

Engines - going slow is annoying and it sucks.

Capacitors - hey, I got thesebad a$$ weapons but gotta stop shootingin the heat of battle!

So charge a little more for these after the 1st Tier.

No hard and fast rule, but this has worked for me. You have to feel out the generl public on your server.

Hope this helped.

Well i juts completed my first custom order! YAY!!

I made two experimental blasters with quick fire upgrades on both, came out quite lethal...and an Elite POB shield.

I got 200k for the elite and 100k for each blaster. I thought it was a long shot asking tat much and was only really doign to see what teh guy thought a reasonable price woudl be. But he said "sounds like a fair price"!!!!

Cool.

Thanks for the help everyone. I am tryign to get a pricelist going and i think i am nearly there.

At the moment I tend to charge:

Chassis - 3cpu (20cpu on asteroid resources)

Crafted Components - 4 cpu (20cpu on asteroid resources)

RE'd Components - (Level x Level x 1000) + Level

Repair Kits - Repair Points / 10

I need to sort myself out with a proper shop, right now I just have a workshop and take custom orders.
