Thread: Request: a PYR subcomponent

Can we please have an engine upgrade part which can improve the engine's PYR It could improve the pyr at the expense of something like power drain. We could say maybe +5 per stat at L1, up to +15-20 for L9, and maybe +25 or so for elite engines. These numbers might be a little high, but I would definately put this badboy in my engines. Lets get some replies.

Thats an easy one to "justify". We have "Thrust Vectoring Nozzles" IRL right now...I don't see why a similar sub component couldn't be added for PRY. Another method could be "Subspace Manuvering Thrusters"


Either way, they would/should add PRY at the expense of energy use and or top speed.


Of course, the values should be carefully concidered...an engine with a 95.6 PRY might rip the wings right off a Z-95...heh heh (but it would be real fun while they lasted!)

A PYR subcomponent would be very cool. Give us lots more flexibility with engines.


Aside from mass/armour/hitpoints, there's a upgrade that affects every other stat in every other component we can craft, right? Why not YPR as well


Only issue is that I still want loot/REd loot to have a use. If we consistently outperform REd, whats the point of having it in the game? With engines, right now, we can craft much higher speeds, but REd engines have higher YPRs.


I don't know if I want to affect that balance.

REs still are much lighter and guzzle much less power. They suck to replace once decayed out. This would be one step to curing Decay-O-Phobia.

That's true, they'd probably end up lighter.


But, if you look at other REd loot, for example guns, REd stuff tends to have better stats in some areas, while crafted is better in others. We can craft much higher refire rates than REd, but REd comes out on top when it comes to damage.


I like that flavour.

Why though? Because we can't craft as good stats as REd? I don't think that's a good reason.

WOuld prefer to see it have a negative impact on speed. This way a good RE will still outperform crafted on at least energy drain at all times, and a great RE will get better PYR as well as a small speed bonus.

People would be able to buy engines which are easily replaceable = take them into PvP.

well.... I can craft a lvl 9 engine.. 101 speed 70ish in pitch/yaw and 60 in roll... Thats not exactly a bad engine... actually better than most looted stuff


Ofcourse it cant even begin to compare to REd lvl 10 I have 2 diff engines I use


engine 1: 42k mass, 101.6 speed, 80-81 PYR


engine 2: 40k mass, 96.9 speed, 84+ PYR



it comes close to most lvl 8 engines tho

How about allowing smugglers to slice JUST the YPR and nothing else of ship components..
