I'm not 100% sure why we don't have factory support. Besides, there are way to many parts floating around already. As of right now, I craft very few chassis, and tons of consumable products like missiles and repair kits.. You can go to any bazaar and find parts there. I'm going to wait it out and see what happens. Many players that I've spoken to are bored with space now, and that directly affects the SW's.

We do have limited factory support. You can mass produce sub-components like armor reinforcement panels, max-damage intensifiers, etc. You can also use a factory to make crates of missles and paint kits. There are quite a few things you can use a factory to make. I have two equipment factories running everyday for subs and missles.

I dont think thats what he meant.. For me, wetrully donthave factory support.. Yes, we can make subs and other stuff, but the main components all have to be done by hand.. Doesnt help my carpal tunnel..lol

I believe the answer Styx got from the devs was shipwright was looked upon as more of a custom crafting profession, so it was hoped that full factory support would either be unnecessary or should be discouraged. That way, shipwrights would be there to fill out entire ships for people, as opposed to just being around to manage their factories twice a week.

Plus, most of us like it this way and it's probably better for the economy.

That seems like an awfully flimsy reason though. The same could easily be said of any crafing profession. The only real difference between shipwright and the other professions is we use more resources, we have more experiment points, and more stats to use them on - I don't see how that translates into not being able to use factories.

I don't mind hand crafting things at all, but it irritates me that I'll end up with marginally different stats on everything.

I only use equipment factories to make the sub components and ordinance the rest is usually custom made.

Although running armour through a factory would be convenient since it's one of those things that would have to be replaced often on a ship and suppling people with crates of the stuff would make it more conveinent for them.

But I can live without factory support...

I wish experimentation would affect chassis a bit more but that's for another thread....

Just a show of hands how many SW really want factory support?

Imagine trying to run a factory to make 100master levelchassis....that's a LOT of resources...

I used to like the idea of no-factory-support but not anymore. It's getting tedious to restock vendors. Other crafters don't have this dilemma. I mastered SW 2 weeks after it was released and so far only 2 people have asked me for a customized part. It's not like we're going to run 1000 components in our factory. The components use too much resources. And sales have been dipping that it's just crazy to make 1000 of the same component. I wish they would just add factory support to SW.

I must admit I'm starting to agree. I was one of the advocates of the 'no factory' lobby, however as demand continues to rise it becomes more difficult to maintain stock levels. Maybe the galaxy-wide vendorsearch will bring in some low-ballers and solve the problem for me

When we get a new correspondent, we need to put this issue on a vote again. This time I'm all for factory support.

You get my vote for factory support. Besides the Carpal Tunnel problem, there is the space problem. With all the different components and levels, all of those 7 out of 8 RE jobs, and the ton of resources, space is a big issue for me. It would be nice to have a crate of 25 taking one item space as opposed to 25. I also have a Master Combat profession to survive the harvester runs, with the CURB I am going to have to figure out what to surrender and that might make my space issue critical.
