What's not to like, I enjoy most of the parts of SW. I am about to hit master, and I haven't grinded, power levelled or anything like that. Just taken my time.

The only slow part was the resource collecting, especially on chimaera where there are currently 6 names resources available so mass collecting has stopped and all me harvesters are scattered around the planets.

I enjoy the RE, have a spreadsheet with all the parts so I know how many items I need to collect. Also there isthe possibility of finding the KSE part, 2 down 6 to go.

I also enjoy helping low level pilots , going through me RE stock picking the right parts for there first ship, then seeing them come back with a smile on there face looking for their next ship.

Very satisfying profession

It required an insane amount of resources to become a master shipwright, so there isnt as many Master shipwrights as there would be otherwise.

Not sure what i truely like about it. I just like it. Maybe because it provides a challange but doesn't make you go insane with a billion and one factoried subcomponents to make one item. Thats the main reason why i haven't ever went far in any of the other elite crafting pros. SW might end up being my first elite master since the day i started playing, and thats beens since the end of Beta 3. wow.

My number one, absolute, most favorite aspect of being a shipwright is the satisfaction of working directly with a customer to deliver something that they have a shipload of fun with. First, it has been a pleasure working with most of my clients. Second, some clients really have tested my abilities to be innovative, as a shipwright. For example, I had one client that told me that her tactics were best applied to ships that were tanks. Thus, she put me to the challenge of turning her A-wing into a micro-tank. It took some futzing around, but I came up with something for her. Finally, the satisfaction of the tells and mail informing me that whatever I made them is working out great--that they haven't had so much fun in so long.

I also like the fact that this profession has such a high resource requirement associated with the grind that it has become a truly elite profession. Being a shipwright has become somewhat of a "Badge of Honor".

Finally, I'm also a Master Droid Engineer. So I have this whole thing going where I feel like I can make all the cool stuff from the Star Wars movies--ships and droids. Sorry, but you just can't compare this to being an architect or tailor--what are you going to tell folks, "I am so happy because I can craft a house in the Star Wars universe."? Just doesn't seem to have that same impact now does it?

Shipwright, odd as it sounds, was the only thing keeping me in the game since JtL launched. I was losing my nerve and thinking of cancelling for a few months, but stuck with it because of shipwright.

Things I like (love, even) about shipwright:

-No Factory support. I like having to hand craft everything. I try to do as many custom orders as i can for people, and have become somewhat known for this. I'm the guy that will sit down with you, no matter what my schedule is like, and discuss what parts you need and what they'll cost and all the et ceteras. This ties in well with hand crafting things to tailorfit my customers.

-I like the idea that I'm building an entire vehicle, piece by piece, from the ground up. I LOVE being able to tweak each part independently of the others.

-Looted components. I like that looted components are A) better than crafted ones to a degree and B) as rare as they are (good ones anyway). Keeps SWs in business, while giving incentive to hunt for parts at the same time. I'd like to see lootable subcomponents or some such as well, though. I've detailed this briefly here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=profshipwright&message.id=12047

-I like that certain (albeit very few) parts appear differently on ships than others, such as the engines on a z-95 and X-Wing being larger, for example. I'd like to see more of this, personally. I also like that different types of weapons have different appearances as well.

I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of at the moment.

I whole-heartedly agree with both Jagged-F3l and Insidius about what's to like.

Working with customers is a pleasure. I try to spend time with each and every one of my customers to help them maximize their ships to the greatest potential, and also volunteer to help on any missions they have (alt is imperial, main is freelance currently, so can help on all).

Shipwright also helped bring enjoyment back to the game for me. Shipwright was my 33rd profession mastery (still politician left, heh) - ignoring pilot masteries. Having done near everything in the game made many things boring, even being an 'uber speed capped swordsman'/rifleman. Just wasn't enough fun there to be able to kill near *anything* solo. Now, running around unbuffed for the last month has been fun! I actually have to watch out for swoopers outside Tyrena so they don't incap me off my bike heh.

I love being able to craft my parts, and I use them almost exclusively (except for some, of course, like capacitors, and of course use the lvl6 reward engine RE'd if i can heh) - but I couldn't honestly tell my customers that my parts are best for them to use if I don't primarily use my parts, and know them inside and out.

Just today even I was attempting to get someone I met in space to come to my store to buy some new weapons from me, and even offered a 110% refund in price if he wasn't completely satisfied that they were better than his current weapons, I'm that confident.

Basically, I love it. Shipwright has been the most fun profession in this game for me, right along with pilot (Rifleman and/or Swordsman being close, they were fun too, heh). I'm sure my Jedi alt is feeling lonely, as I only use her for her lots and being an Imperial ace pilot, heh. She's supposed to be evil though, so she can handle rejection, I hope, it'll only make her stronger! Heh.

The warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from doing custom orders for people. There's enough variation in the shipwright profession to be able to craft a number of different kinds of ships - fighters, bombers, gunships, yachts, all kinds.

Uh...what everyone else has said, hehehe. They all covered it.

1) There aren't many who can do it effectively (combination of underatanding resources, being able to harvest, and understanding how to craft the components).

2) Being able to interact with my customers and custom build ships for them.

3) The resource demands have rationalised the resources market and had a stabilising effect on that part of the economy.

4) Special resources always in spawn.

1) I really like the re-eng aspect of SW. It's like putting a puzzle together, and when you get that last piece of the puzzle that makes a really great part, it makes it quite satisfying (although I did a newb thing, I re-eng 2 lvl 10 engines using the blackhole engine as the style without trying it first...no graphics! doh!. one thing we need to get the dev's to do is fix those graphic issues with blasters and engines...pls!).

2) Helping Customers realize that their ships can actually be fun to fly. As others have said, its a great satisfaction to be able to build a ship and outfit it, and then have the pilot send u a tell/e-mail about how awsome his/her ship is. There are so many pilots out there that just don't realize how great their ship could be, I think many assume that parts don't make that big of a difference, so its always fun to be able to open a new customers eyes to the potential that is there.
