I am killing a lot of animals. I am using bone and hide for traps, but now I have plenty of traps, so I have been thinking about acquiring meat. What is it used for and can I sell it? What is the price?

You will start using meat for Traps made with the Trap II skill. I would keep some in your inventory, but bone and hide are used more (at keast through Trap III).

Meat can be used by any medic to make stimpacks. Also, if you can find a Bio-Engineer, they use meats to make their creatures I believe.

As far as using it as a scout, you can usemeats in some of the traps. The GlowJuice trap comes to mind here.

Hope this helps.

I've been keeping the price low on stacks of 100 for meats. Usually 1 to 4 cr a unit.

Someone's been buying them, so I think there are cooks out there.

i sell everything i harvest from creatures at 2-3 cr a piece. depends on the demand.

do NOT go above 5cr a piece or else it will never sell and youll be out 20 bucks! and i sell stuff in bundles of either 50 or 100 (i always try 100 though because you dont lose as much money from the bazaar fee). even if i have 500 hides, ill sell them in groups of 100. for stuff like that, unless youre making a million of something, you dont need 500.

ive tried selling larger bundles before and it didnt sell.

I've noticed that too, anything over a stack of 100 usually doesn't go quickly or at all. Must be that no one really has the credits for big ticket purchases.

i think people have the cash. if they can spend 30k on a droid they can spend a few hundred on meat. its just that they dont need that much at the time. instead of stockpiling it, they buy smaller amounts. which means the seller makes less money because it costs 20cr every time you put up a sale.

I've never really done much with meat. You can substitute hide or bones as ingredient for the traps you describe.

Oh, & I still regularly sell stack of hide/bone(25-200 units) for 7-10cr per unit.

not attacking you or anything flavorx, but youre ripping people off.

realize how easy it is to add a profession. if people are charging 10cr for something that takes 5 minutes to go out and shoot and harvest, whats stopping them from doing that?

dont kill our profession because some suckers dont realize how easy it is to get these resources. how else will scouts make money then? besides destroy missions. thats not what a scout is designed to do.

I've actually started pricing things that I sell (hides/bones/surveyed resources) according to their Overall Quality. Basically, I charge 1% of the Overall Quality per unit, so hide with a OQ of 499 sells for 5c/unit. Hides with 750 OQ sell for 7.5c/unit.

This seems to be working pretty well for me - the higher quality goods are necessary for higher-quality experimentation and higher-quality items. They SHOULD have a premium. And the cheaper goods (like the OQ 1 FiberPlast I found) should be sold at rock-bottom prices...

Ray,

Unless you are planning on using the meat for a specific purpose - like cooking, or you're getting from animals that don't give hide or bone (like spiders), I would suggest not bothering with harvesting meat.

Other than cooking, there really isn't anything that meat can do that a hide can't. And the hide has significantly more uses - for you and for others - than the meat does.

So don't worry about harvesting meat. Stick to bone and hide.

I sell bones and hide at 10cr a unit and they sell fine.

I generally harvest anything I can get my hands on. Then if I'm ever out of hides or bone, cause I sold them, then I still have the meat I harvested to make things. Plus I'm going for Bio-Engineer, so I'm constantly making stim packs and the like, which require lots of organic materials. So alittle more meat is always welcome.
