Thread: Please Hotfix Creature Harvesting, this is our livlihood
Creature harvesting has been cut in half beyond the 60% grouping ability. Now whether you are grouped or not you get half the hides/bones/meat. In addition if you are grouped with no other rangers or just your pets the 60% rule takes effect.
This penalizes scouts/rangers/chs for grouping. This also makes the main source of income for a Ranger/Scout/CH now become obsolete.
Please fix this. Make the 60% rule optional for grouping and raise the harvesting back up. If this is not done it will cause a huge imbalance in the economy when it trickles down to the artisans. It penalizes people for becoming
Shnelle,
I've passed these concerns on to the Devs. All we can do now is wait.
This shouldn't have that large an effect on the economy, as it is balanced by the multiple harvest changes.

I'm not too worried about multiple harvests flooding the market since myself and most other rangers I know play Solo almost exclusively, but I understand how it Could be a problem if a full group of rangers and scouts got together for some big game hunting.
What I dont like is that a non-scout can get 18 units of hide from a bantha while I only get 26 as a Master Ranger! Where is the big Ranger bonus to harvesting? Shouldn't +100 Creature Harvesting yeild +100% the normal rate?
Everyone's talking about the possibility to flood the market with even more resources than before.. Stop and think over it.. it now need 3 equally skilled scout/rangers grouped to get abit under the same amount of resources than you got solo before.. this means if you're a master you need to find 2 other masters to hunt with.. that is NOT easy.. And to top it of you will probably have to split the revenue in 3, since there's three of you.
That is why I have proposed another solution. When grouped everyone gets their standard drop of resources (pre-patch) divided on how many scouts/rangers there are in the group. And if the Devs want to encourage grouping, then throw in a 5 or 10% bonus.
I'm sorry Delta.. I didn't even realize that you were now the correspondent. Congrats to you.
Thank you for raising this issue with the devs. Based on some of your feedback, it appeared as though you weren't really against an across the board reduction (only that they didn't report it), but perhaps I misread.
It's truely sad that when solo we're seeing a 50 - 60% decrease, but it's even worse when you do group and that's cut by an additional 40%. It's really forcing Rangers to hunt solo, and that's just not right.
Ahh ok.. my mistake. I should have read your tag a little more closely hehe
Well thank you for filling in at any rate. ![]()

I couldn't agree more!
I don't know, I think the effect on the economy long-term may be pretty severe. There's so many people past harvesting for XP, who already have all the hides they could ever want, that group harvesting I don't think will be nearly the economic flow it could be. So many people are now going for just the hunt, they are not going to stand around and wait for everyone to get their harvesting done, they're going to move on and kill something else.
There's no easy way to change it from players, but taking a hit because I'm grouped with my wrix? Trust me, he's not going to be making me a camp any time soon. ![]()

But it will. And it will have a *huge* effect once people figure it out. Tonite I ran into a group of 10 people (all from the same PA) acquiring resources (all had scouting skills). As a group theywere getting 600% more per kill than a ranger could before the patch. They said they were getting about 15K herbivore meat per hour. If they grouped 20 people in the group (which they were planning for Sunday) they would make 30k herbivore meat per hour. Do the math. They also said that they no longer were planning to purchase any organic components as they could quickly form a hunting group for a couple of hours, go out and kill things, have a lot of fun and end up with massive resources.
Perhaps they were teasing, perhaps not. I am not sure, but it is clear that a large group can take in far more resources than a single person or small group on the same number of kills. This may mean the end of the solo hunter.
Face it, people who group mostly harvest whatever is on what they kill. They don't go looking for the best resources that are in high demand. So, if it takes you twice as long to gather your resources, charge twice as much. If people don't like it, don't sell. Your competition will be doing the same and eventually the choking flow of quality meat, hides, and bone will cause the prices to go up. This may cause some big stirs in the server economy, but if anything, demand for our product will increase and so will our profits.
If oil were as common as dirt, gas prices would be dirt cheap.
