Thread: Harvesting: All or One?

Which of the following is better?

1. When harvesting, you harvest the full amount of one resource type (hide, bone, meat).

2. When harvesting, you harvest some of each resource type available.

3. Having an in-game choice between 1 and 2.

My personal choice is either 1 or 3. Sometimes, I am only after one of the resources available on a critter and would rather get a larger amount of that one resource rather than a reduced amount of it plus a supply of the other two I don't want. If I had to choose only between 1 and 2, I'd want to keep it as is.

Option 4

Tie it to your level. Master scout or Novice ranger can harvest 2 of the 3, Master Ranger can get 3 of 3 resources (well, except for those creatures that lack certain resources).

you mean creatures like Pikets or thunes, creatures that lack bones?

among others, yes. Some things only have meat. Some things, like pikets, lack bones. Some things have odd resources (lantern birds on Endor have herbivore meat, not avian). But in general, I'd love to see some concept of Master Scout being able to pull up to 2 of the 3 resource typically available, and Master Ranger being able to pull all 3 (when they are available of course).

yes, i agree Master Scout and Master Ranger should get something more. There are a fair amount of 'dabblers' in the scout field. The addition of a perk of getting more than one resource would be nice.

but, you must admit, it is funny on how Pickets do not yield bone, and other strange harvesting things.

Sorry to say, don't be looking for this in Scout. Maybe in Ranger.

Scout is a basic profession, and most of our stuff is working as intended (with the notable exception of maskscent and kreetles and rasps). Harvesting is working, traps work, and our camps work well enough - need a tweak on the creature repel but thats all. Looking at it that way, we are in a lot better shape than the Rangers.

Realize too, the coming CU will not affect Scout/Ranger in any direct way as the powers that be have decided we are not Combat. Yes I amscreaming about this. Any changes that do come, will come from your weapons class.

Not throwing cold water on a good idea, just re-directing it.

absolutely. It's hilarious some of the "odd" resources you find as you hunt your way around the galaxy. I think Pikets are my favorite, but that could be because I've lived on Dant almost my entire time so I'm rather partial to them. Those big silly beasts have provided me with much fun milking and harvesting, just as long as I dont' need bones. I sort of leave them alone now, I almost feel bad after running rampage thru them where ever I found 'em for about a week or two, a few months back.

The thing I would LIKE to see is our traps affect people, and ranger conceal affect people as well. That trap scouts get that dizzies creatures, if you read the discription of it, sounds like it would dizzy me! The descriptions in the rest of them are the same thing.

Ranger conceal, is akin to camoflauge (i think i spelt it wrong), that SHOULD hide you from people.

Even with those two things, scout/ranger should still be a support class, just as CH should be a support class. Aside from some effects from traps, if they did implement it, that would be we would get, we would still need some combat to balance it out. Then Rangers could go to places and not have to worry about all those annoying NPC's, like Escaped Nightsister Slaves.

While this is off topic -

Our traps will not affect people (players or NPCs). We are creature hunters. BHs had the chance, then shot themselves in the foot when they got the Master Scout requirement dropped. They got what they wished for, and now regret it.

I want our traps to affect CH pets, after all, they are still animals.

Man traps, no.

HEY! I am a MCH! I don't want my pets dizzy, stuned or whathave you! You can think of them not being effected because of all the tender loving care we give them makes them immune to it.

Dear Velm -

It's not my fault you are an MCH. There is a 12 step group for that, should you want to stop. We could have an intervention for ya.

Maybe get a graul to poop on your foot. Or get a rancor to use you as a toothpick.

And yes gang, one of the many hills I am gonna fight on is "Scouts get to trap bio-pets". Just cause I am tired of having to incap them the hard way, and people expect Scouts/Rangers to be able to trap creatures. If it works in caves it should work on pets.

I don't really believe that harvesting multiple types belongs to only Rangers. It doesn't really make sense.

With their increases in Harvest rates, adding the ability to do multiple resource types just to Ranger doesn't seem right.

It isn't that far-fetched to believe Scouts should have the ability, but won't harvest as much as Rangers...
