Tuesday's tip for scouts and rangers =)
We were hunting on dath today and the guild BE said "I only need 10k bone, then the rest carnivore or insect meat"
This got me thinking it would be great as a scout skill to be able to set a bar for a resource just like your experience monitor where you set your goal and it goes from yellow to green as you reach your goal... well sure that's complicated and overkill... but it struck me do have a very easy way to at-a-glance see how much of something we've got.
If you've got any open toolbar slots *cough*notlikely*cough* you can drag the stack of resource to one of those open slots and see the rough amount at a glance... ie: 40k, but not 40,102. These work best on the second row (less likely to accidentally hit). If you do accidentally hit it, you'll get the option to split the stack.

Not a bad idea.
I just stuff the resources into a satchel labeled "Harvest" and keep running tabs on how much I have. This idea is not bad.

Benefit: No opening your inventory to look at how much
Downside: Uses up valuable toolbar space
Any others?

Does it really matter how much you have? I just harvest untill im bored of it...which takes about 2 mins of harvesting, then i leave and do other stuff, I only check how much i have every once in awhile.

Thats amazing, and I really am glad, but while you feel all great about yourself, look at some work from a 5th grader.

I thought: "wow, what a great idea" and it still is. However, the thing that I need a goal bar to count is milk, which doesn't stack properly. It would be nice to have a hide counter though.

oh, and Last - GREAT idea. I hunt a lot, not under contract per se, but I've got a few friends in game that I frequently will hunt for them at agreed on CPU rates, as well as often going out and hunting resources in demand if I decide I feel like it and the offered CPU is good enough, or I think I'll have fun doing it, or just want to get out and hunt with my cat or whatever. I definitely set mental goals for myself ("gee, at 60CPU for 10K stacks and over, I can make a cool 600K if I get that 10K stack, let's shot for 20-30K or more and get close to 2Mil") and it would be nice to have some kind of gauge / counter that I could set what I want it to track and it would show me progress towards some goal that I set myself.
I really really like this idea - don't let the guy above get you down, he's all over the threads I've looked at today spreading his own *special* wisdom around. *sigh*

Hm, I must really not be lazy then, because pressing Ctrl-I and checking takes me about 1 second, and you really only check it when you're switching weapons or looking for some food. I doubt you will be harvesting and go "Oh crap!, I got 11k instead of 10k damnit, what will I do now, oh what will I do" I never said this idea wasn't cool, I just have an opinion on it just like all of you. Thats great that you guys have a use for it..I personally don't.
Don't care? Great, don't talk to me I think i'll live if I don't hear some smart ass comments from e-thugging kids.
www.e-thug.net take the anger out on the talking piece of bread.
Maybe if I go to the ranger forums people will be allowed to have an opionion without other kids trying to shut them down for saying something they dont agree with.
Oh and Hakai, I'm not trying to be like anyone. I just assumed you would enjoy some art work done by 5th graders which are smarter than you.
The stack of resources you get in your inventory has the ammount of it you have in that stack. You dont need to do any work other than press Ctrl-I..and maybe scroll down to the resource. It says "68k Avian Meat" or whatever, how much easier do you need it to be?
Well, have fun guys, enjoy your cool new trick!

I find this statement comical at best.
I am not the one that has degraded to personal attacks.

Okay, VictorM is the baddest man in all the land. His verbal sparring skills leave me in awe, like being the thirdwheel in a luncheon with Kierkegaard and John Stuart Mill. My, what a contribution he has made to the scout community. Watch your back JB.
