I get 3 Kilometers away from town and still can't set up a camp. The no-build zones are everywhere on Talus. I have tried to set up camp over 40 times and succeeded twice, that's BS. And the first one, I sat down for over 10 minutes and no battle fatigue heal. So if no battle fatigue heal or any other type of camp heal, there's no point of setting up a camp other than to get surv exp. This ain't right, I really don't want to twiddle my thumbs for who knows how many hours sittin in a camp doin nothing to get surv exp, that isn't fun, it's stupid.

First there are a ton of places on talus to set up. Particuarly towards the south. I have done a lot. Second wounds heal BF doesnt.. but really BF isnt as important as wounds anyway so dont worry about it.

If you have trouble locating these spots just take a destroy mission to the south and they will get you out of town far enough to set up your camp.

After 12 minutes, NO WOUNDS OR BF HEALED. Nothing happened after 12 minutes other than getting 350 or so surv exp.

Camps Do Not:

Heal battle fatigue. - Cantinas heal battle fatigue.

Heal wounds - Medics/Entertainers Heal wounds while in the camp.

Camps Do

Increase the rate at which you heal normally.

Allow the use of Medic skills such as /tendwound and /healwound

Allow Entertainers to heal your Mind wound via dancing/music

*At higher levels* (Survival 3) Provide added protection from aggresive mobs (prevents them aggro'ing sort of like Mask Scent)

That is all.

By the time you find a place to place a camp, you're hit points are healed already.

But your wounds, and those of your group mates have not!

Not to mention that once you get a bit more experience under your belt you will very rarely be so close to town during missions that you cant just pop a camp out. 90% of the time that I take two missions, after finishing them I drop a camp and then heal my wounds and get back to full. After that I clear all the surrounding area of mobs.

Being close to town is part of the initial "safety net" of SWG, trust me that later on in your life you will be spending greater amounts of time out in the wilderness well away from town, and have more then ample chances to whip out your tent without looking for an available spot.

Actually camps DO HEAL WOUNDS! I have about a 10 point drop in wounds across the board after 6 min in camp.

Camps DONT heal BF

Gotta go with Barney on this...Camps heal about 10 points of Wound Damage every 5 minutes or so...I had a bad run of luck on Naboo and had 179 in health wounds. After about an hour of sitting in camp (talking to friends, crafting, eating dinner...) I was healed to full. Now, GRANTED having my medic buddy with me s much, much nicer but in a pinch....(oh, and walking away with 800 camping exp was a niiiice bonus at the end of all that....)

Handy hint: In Beta I discovered that with a heap of wound points, you would not get any more XP after about 20 mins ie after 20 mins, disband camp, take 600 XP for a single camp or 800 for a multiperson camp, setup another camp and continue healing and racking up XP. Whilst in the comfy chair churn out a couple more camps from all those hides/bone you've been harvesting and you don't even have to wait to get back round the campfire.

yep wounds do heal in camps 10 pt. in all pools every 5-6 min of up time and yes it looks like XP stops gaining at about 20-25 min or so also solo camping gives less XP.

now as for

"I really don't want to twiddle my thumbs for who knows how many hours sittin in a camp doin nothing to get surv exp, that isn't fun, it's stupid."

thats called powergaming its not ment to be fun. if you only want to gain skill fast then suffer with it. as it stands I have made it to survival 3 in just a cpl days by only seting up camps when I really need them to heal (between missions) and considering the game was ment for the casual player to do thin in mounths not days Id say its just fine (Im not a casual player nor a powergamer I just have alot of time to play) Ill reach master scout in about a week (not the mounths a casual player playes) but I also play 6X more hours a day then a casual player so It all looks good to me.

Sounds to me like your more upset about the fact thats there is down time and it takes time to build skills so Ill ask how many hours ov game play do you think it should take to master scout?

And how would you make doctors and medics usfull if camps give faster heals (I already think camps make there usless as it is for every day play havent been to a medic in mounths of play here and during beta)

And as for the not being able to set up camps I dont know about Talus but I have no prob on Tat once you get out of town a ways. Im all for no build zones but I do think thay could reduce it for camps some I guess if there is a prob but I havnt realy seen one yet.

Is this still an issue?

Camps autoheal all wounds. Camps grant the ability to use woundpacks in them. They allow entertainers to dance/play and so you can heal mind/focus/willpower-wounds. You cannot heal BF.

With survival1 the first heal-tick of the camp comes after about 5 minutes (varies). The second tick comes after about 12 minutes. Each tick heals 10 of all your wounds, regardless of camp and campingskill. The greater your camping skill is, the shorter is the time between those camp-heal ticks.

The amount of xp you get is based on the amount of wounds this camp heals (or get healed my a medic in your camp) and it's uptime. It's not or not much related on number of different persons who visited this camp.

Every camp is allways maxed out xp-wise, when it autodisbands after about 30 minutes. In most casesyouwould get the most possible xp for this campeven when you disband your camp before 30 minutes. Rumors are that the amount of uptime and the max xp you can get for this camp is related to the durability of the camp (you see that value while building it).

However, imho camps are useless because of several reasons.

yes it is true that you can heal wounds in camp every 6 minutes. Also, since you are a scout and you need metal and other things for your higher level traps, pick up a couple levels of survey and mine for stuff while you are in camp. Then you are not just gaining one type of xp, but two or three if you are crafting too...and saves you money on buying resources.
